Former NBA player Kent Bazemore’s wife has filed for divorce, Pvnew can exclusively reveal.
Samantha Serpe requested to end her five-year marriage to the Los Angeles Lakers player in January, claiming it was “irretrievably broken” with “no chance of reconciliation,” according to documents obtained by us.
Serpe listed the date of separation as Nov. 23, 2022.
The estranged couple share two children, 4-year-old son Jett and 2-year-old daughter Nixon.
Serpe requested joint legal custody of the kids with the former Atlanta Hawks guard but asked for primary physical custody with Bazemore given visitation rights.
In his response, which was filed in March, Bazemore requested the court decide primary physical custody.
Prior to tying the knot in November 2017, Serpe and Bazemore signed a prenuptial agreement that they both want the court to uphold. The basketball player also wants to be awarded legal fees but did agree to pay child support.
Despite the pretty standard paperwork for the split, the former pair’s divorce appears acrimonious, as they have been ordered to attend mediation.
Their first session was scheduled for May 4.
Lawyers for Bazemore and Serpe didn’t immediately return Pvnew’s requests for comment.
Serpe, 33, appears to have blocked Bazemore, also 33, from her Instagram page. While photos of the soon-to-be exes from over the years remain on her grid, his tags do not.
Bazemore’s NBA career has taken him all over the map. After first going undrafted in 2012, he joined the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Orlando Summer League before joining the Golden State Warriors for the Las Vegas Summer League.
He made a name for himself when he signed a four-year, $70 million deal with the Hawks before the team’s 2016 season.
The athlete fulfilled his contract and then spent a year with the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings before growing fatigued of one-year contracts.
“I want some stability, man,” Bazemore, who last played for the Los Angeles Lakers, told the Mercury News in 2021. “Tired of bouncing around. Wife is definitely sick of it. She’s human, man. Every time she gets goin’, it’s time to go again.
“She’s been great. Obviously it’s been hard for her — she let me off the hook a couple time,” he continued. “I’m really thinking hard about that, what she wants.”
