The NFL needs to “Breakaway” from Swiftie mayhem.
Kelly Clarkson thinks watching football is more like Bravo these days thanks to Taylor Swift’s new relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
“It’s not hilarious how it is literally taking over the NFL for people that like watching sports now,” Clarkson said during Friday’s episode of her eponymous talk show while interviewing “Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang.
“It’s like you’re watching ‘Housewives’ while you’re watching,” she joked.
The “Since U Been Gone” singer, 41, bemoaned NFL commentators “just talking about gossip things” during recent games.
“And you’re like, ‘So, what about the play?'” she said with a laugh, adding of the power couple, “They’re taking over.”
Yang, 32, then reflected on Swift and Kelce’s surprise appearances on “SNL” last weekend.
“It was so wild. We didn’t expect them to come. I round the corner, they’re at the page desk and … I’m like, ‘Oh, there’s two of the tallest people I’ve ever seen. Who are they?'” the comedian recalled.
“And then I was like, ‘Oh, my goodness, wow, it’s them! OK, they’re here,’ and it was wild.”
Yang said that he has been a Swiftie for a “long minute” and even attended one of her Eras Tour concerts, though Clarkson admitted she was not able to make it.
As Pvnew previously reported, Swift, 33, and Kelce, 34, enjoyed a date night at Nobu in New York City before making their way to the NBC sketch comedy show, which Pete Davidson hosted.
The “Cruel Summer” singer even introduced the evening’s musical guest, Ice Spice, with whom she collaborated on the “Karma” remix from Swift’s 2023 album, “Midnights.”
Meanwhile, the two-time Super Bowl champion also had a last-minute cameo to the delight of his football fans.
Following the show, Traylor made their way over to the “SNL” afterparty at Catch Steak, where they were seen getting cozy.
Clarkson wasn’t far off in calling out the NFL for focusing on the pop star instead of games.
Swift has attended three of Kelce’s games in the last few weeks, during which she was regularly featured on the broadcast and discussed by commentators.
The NFL even famously changed its Twitter bio to say “NFL (Taylor’s Version)” after she showed up to his game against the Chicago Bears last month.
Swift confirmed romance rumors with Kelce in September when she first watched a game from the Chiefs’ private suite at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., beside the athlete’s mom, Donna.
She and Kelce then left the game together after he helped lead the team to victory.
The next week, Swift attended his game against the New York Jets, bringing besties Sophie Turner, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman along with her.
Again, Swift’s attendance at the game made headlines, and she was prominently featured on the Jumbotron.
To many newfound NFL fans’ disappointment, she skipped Kelce’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Fortunately, for her devoted fan base, she was back to her WAG duties at his game against the Denver Broncos last Thursday.
The NFL caught heat for focusing so much on Swift instead of the sport, with Barstool Sports boss Dave Portnoy even claiming that the league was “simping” over their relationship.
Sports sources admitted earlier this month that the NFL is planning to shift the focus back to football despite Swift’s presence causing a major spike in viewership.
Things seem to be quite serious for Swift and Kelce: The tight end reportedly purchased a $6 million Kansas City mansion so he and Swift could enjoy more privacy when she visits him.
