Heather Rae Young is looking out for herself and her baby boy after facing backlash over her “tone deaf” Instagram post.
The “Selling Sunset” star shared a photo of herself holding her son, Tristan, in a carrier against her chest and wrote, “Protecting our energy [white-heart emoji].”
Shortly thereafter, Young re-shared a new grid of herself posing at the Baby2Baby warehouse and commented, “The world needs a lot more of this and less hate & negativity.”
The not-so-cryptic messages to her fans come after she was dragged for posting about Tristan’s successful first flight — which happened to be aboard a private jet.
“I breast fed him on the way up and then again on the way down to help with ear popping,” she wrote as a “mom tip.”
”It worked perfectly and then the rest of the flight he just giggled, played and looked around and was so happy & didn’t cry once… he loved the new environment .”
Although the reality star, 35, was well-intentioned, many of her followers felt the post wasn’t relatable because flying private is a far different experience from flying commercial.
“I love you and think you are an incredible woman, boss, mama and so many other things. You radiate positivity and inclusivity. BUT, this is tone def af. Private jet with help, is not an accomplishment. It’s straight privilege (and your hard work) but ZERO precent relatable,” wrote one critic.
Young’s husband, Tarek El Moussa, later came to her defense in the comments section of her post.
After a fan commented, “a plane is a plane – flying is flying – she breast fed him before and after and that’s what helped nothing do with being in a private jet,” in defense of the real estate agent, the “Flip or Flop” star responded with three clapping emojis.
“Love you guys!!!” he added in a separate comment.
Young and El Moussa, 41, married in October 2021 after two years of dating. Less than a year later, they announced that they were expecting their first baby together.
Young gave birth to Tristan in January 2023.
The “Flip Side” star is also dad to daughter Taylor, 12, and son Brayden, 7, whom he shares with ex-wife Christina Hall.
