Jennifer Garner is able to avoid “panic” and “guilt” as a working mom of three kids.
The actress explained in a new interview that she is intentional about approaching her responsibilities “from a place of expansiveness.”
Garner admitted to “Access Hollywood” Monday that it’s easy to get “freaked out” as a busy parent.
“We’re told constantly, ‘You have 18 summers. You have this much time. Time is fleeting,’ and it makes you panic,” she said, noting that she instead “lean[s] into wherever” she is.
The “13 Going on 30” star, 51, shared that she makes an effort to be present and have a “great time” with her and her ex-husband Ben Affleck’s three kids — Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11 — when they “show up.”
Part of the “Alias” star’s “grounding” perspective has come from her own mother, Patricia Ann Garner.
“My mom has always said to me, ‘You’re their mom forever. Don’t worry, you can do your job. You’re their mom forever. I wish I had worked. I would have been a better mom. Your kids are going to be so proud of you,’” Jennifer recalled.
In addition to her acting career, the businesswoman works as the co-founder of once Upon a Farm — and her little ones love to taste test the products when she brings work home.
“They are just like, ‘Mom, is that new innovation in the fridge? Can we try that with you?'” she said. “They have a lot of ownership over this innovation.”
Jennifer has co-parented her trio with Affleck, 51, since the former couple separated in 2015.
The actor, who is now married to Jennifer Lopez, told “Today” show viewers in 2019 that he tries “very hard” to be a “good dad” to Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
“I’m lucky they got a great mom,” he noted at the time. “She helps out a great deal with making sure that we co-parent in as good a way as possible.”
Four years later, Lopez teared up over his fatherhood skills. The singer, 54, also gushed to Vogue about the exes’ cordial dynamic.
“They work well together,” Lopez said in November 2022 of the “amazing” exes.
