Len Goodman predicted the day he would die — and he passed away just days before his forecast.
The former “Dancing With the Stars” judge, who died Saturday at age 78, previously said he thought he would be his father’s age when he took his last breath.
“My dad had the right idea,” Goodman told the Daily Mail last year.
“He loved gardening and he had a stroke while he was out in the garden. He was 79 so if I go the way of my dad, that’ll be next year.”
Goodman would have been 79 on Tuesday.
The ballroom dancing legend also told the outlet what to write in his obituary at the time: ”Just write: ‘He was a dance teacher from Dartford who got lucky.’ Because that’s just about the truth of it.”
Just a few weeks before that interview took place, the former “DWTS” judge announced his retirement from the dance competition series.
“I’ve been with the show since it started in 2005 and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show but I’ve decided I want to spend more time with my children and family,” he said in November 2022.
“I cannot thank enough the family of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” he continued. “It has been such a wonderful experience for me.”
Sadly, the dancer lost his battle with bone cancer six months later. Goodman’s agent, Jackie Gill, confirmed his passing in a statement Monday morning.
“It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78,” Gill said.
Her statement went on to call Goodman “a much-loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him.”
The statement also revealed Goodman died “in a hospice in Kent … surrounded by family.”
Goodman – who is survived by his wife, Sue Barrett, and his son from a previous relationship, James, 42 – previously had a cancerous tumor on his prostate gland removed in 2009, along with skin cancer, which he had removed in 2019.
