Fans defend Dylan Mulvaney’s Maybelline ad amid boycott calls: ‘Nothing but bigots’

As transphobic trolls take aim at another of Dylan Mulvaney’s partnerships — this time with beauty brand Maybelline — her supporters are continuing to stand by her side.

The TikTok superstar sparked weeks’ worth of anti-trans backlash after teaming up with Bud Light earlier this month; conservative musician Kid Rock even shared a video of himself shooting up cases of the beer in protest.

Now, some on social media have turned their attention to Mulvaney’s partnership with Maybelline, zeroing in on a sponsored post she shared “getting glam” using makeup from the brand on March 13.

On Sunday, online personality Oli London tweeted tweeted, “Maybe he’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline,” misgendering Mulvaney (who uses “she/they” pronouns) and mocking the partnership using the company’s famous tagline.

When others called for shoppers to #BoycottMaybelline, Mulvaney’s supporters jumped to her defense.

“This is it btw. This is the entire reason they’re having a meltdown,” one tweeted, sharing the star’s original beauty tutorial.

“Because Maybelline dared to sponsor a trans woman Dylan Mulvaney, for this 13 seconds video. Meanwhile, women, trans and cis, with actual problems, are left to drown in hatred. TERFs are nothing but bigots.”

Chimed in another, “So, transphobes are boycotting Maybelline now due to a sponsored video with Dylan Mulvaney, a transwoman. It’s going to be good fun when the transphobes realize they need to boycott every single makeup and fashion brand then and are forced to walk around in just paper bags.”

Added a third defender, “No cis women were harmed in that sponsored content, bigots.”

And a fourth joked, “I think Dylan Mulvaney should just partner with every single water brand so transphobes die of dehydration lmao.”

Mulvaney, 26, has shot back at trolls in the past and thanked her followers for her continued support.

Since kicking off her “Days of Girlhood” social media series documenting her transition in 2022, the star has partnered with Kate Spade, Nike, Ulta Beauty, CeraVe, Rent the Runway and many more on sponsored content.

Mulvaney celebrated her 365th day of being a girl with a livestreamed variety show in March.

The New York City event featured guest appearances from Rachel Brosnahan of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Reneé Rapp from “The Sex Lives of College Girls” and other celebrity pals.

Despite the backlash, Mulvaney’s star is only rising.

She recently appeared on “The Drew Barrymore Show” and even met with President Biden at the White House last fall.
