No white for this bride.
Anya Taylor-Joy looked lovely in a custom Dior wedding dress as she married musician Malcom McRae for the second time in Venice over the weekend.
The “Queen’s Gambit” actress, 27 — who quietly tied the knot with McRae, 28, in a courthouse ceremony last summer — selected a fanciful blush tulle Dior ballgown fit for a princess instead of a dress in traditional white or ivory.
The full-skirted frock was embellished with flowers and other woodland motifs, with a hummingbird flitting across the bodice toward an embroidered thistle.
The tiny winged creatures are thought to symbolize joy, love and good luck — and seem to be particularly special to Taylor-Joy, who was once asked about her animal counterpart in an Elle interview.
“I’d love to say a killer whale, but I don’t think I actually am one. I think I’m like a big cat and a hummingbird at the same time,” she told the outlet in 2021.
The thistle, meanwhile, is Scotland’s national flower; it’s possible Taylor-Joy chose it as a nod to her Scottish-Argentinian father.
The bride added a number of other personal details to the design, including an Aries symbol — her star sign and perhaps her “something blue” — stitched just above her waist.
Several words were also embroidered on the dress in a delicate script, although it’s unclear what they say, and the skirt was sprinkled with cherry blossoms, which symbolize renewal, new beginnings and optimism.
The “Last Night in Soho” star wore her blond hair in a half-up style topped with a classic white veil, sporting a smoky eye and deep mauve lipstick for her big day.
While Taylor-Joy and McRae’s first wedding was a low-key affair, plenty of famous faces joined the couple to celebrate at the 15th-century Palazzo Pisani Moretta in Venice, including Cara Delevingne, Nicolas Hoult, Julia Garner and Miles Teller.
The duo were first linked in May 2021 but didn’t make their red carpet debut as a couple until the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February 2022.
They later sparked engagement rumors in June when she showed off a green diamond ring in Australia.
In July 2022, Pvnew broke the story that the duo had married in a quiet courthouse ceremony in the United States before the “Peaky Blinders” actress returned to Australia to film “Furiosa.”
While word is still out on what the groom wore, we have a feeling McRae made his own fashion statement alongside his wife.
