Groundbreaking.
Anne Hathaway is the latest star to embrace the double denim dressing trend, sporting a look that appears to mash up a classic suit with a Canadian tuxedo to visit “Good Morning America” Tuesday.
The “Devil Wears Prada” actress chose an edgy Dion Lee look featuring a blazer with an attached denim corset and pants with a double waist.
She paired the set with black platform Santoni heels and wore her hair in loose waves, keeping her makeup natural.
Hathaway, 40, is busy promoting the romantic comedy “She Came to Me,” in which she stars alongside Peter Dinklage and Marisa Tomei as she was granted a SAG-AFTRA waiver that allows her to continue doing press while other actors are still on strike.
Fans on Twitter adored the daring dungarees, calling Hathaway an “it girl” and noting the mom of two is “serving lewks.”
However, not everyone loved the trendy take on the corset, with one person tweeting, “um this is a miss.”
Hathaway is only the latest celebrity to embrace an all-denim look a la Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001 with a modern twist.
Katy Perry, a noted double denim aficionado, showed off a jean suit for date night with her husband-to-be Orlando Bloom in July while Victoria and David Beckham matched in denim button-down and jeans before joking that their coordinated days were over. Madonna and Rita Ora are also fans of the throwback trend, though Julia Fox is the queen of remix denim.
The “Love & Other Drugs” actress also joins a long line of celebrities who are rocking corsets this year, including Selena Gomez, who’s a mega-fan of the lingerie as outerwear.
Gomez has been showing off her curves in a collection of corsets, including the cinched black style she wore during Paris Fashion Week and the sexy purple minidress the popstar donned for a star-studded VMAs afterparty.
Hathaway herself has made tons of headlines for her daring looks this year, including, most recently, a Versace gown worn just one day after Claudia Schiffer modeled it on the catwalk during Milan Fashion Week.
She also turned heads in two other Versace gowns in May, including a dazzling hooded look and a slashed dress at a Bulgari show and the Met Gala, respectively.
We’ll count this as another win for the style star.
