This is one shirt that’s stood the test of time.
Today marks what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 97th birthday, and eagle-eyed royal watchers might spot a familiar style on Prince Louis in a newly released photo Prince William and Kate Middleton shared on social media in honor of the late monarch, who died in September at age 96.
In the photo — which the Princess of Wales, 41, snapped “at Balmoral last summer” — Elizabeth sits on a sofa surrounded by “some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren,” including 4-year-old Prince Louis.
The little royal beams in the pic, clad in the same striped shirt his older brother, George, sported in a birthday portrait at the same age.
The blue-and-white striped mandarin-collar shirt is from royal favorite Amaia Kids, which sadly no longer stocks the style, and was worn by a 4-year-old George in a 2017 photo taken by photographer Chris Jackson.
In today’s touching tribute pic, Louis is joined by Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7, along with many of their royal cousins.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie, 3, and Princess Lilibet, 1, are missing from the photo after the Sussexes declined to visit Balmoral last year.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen some royal hand-me-downs in action.
Louis wore a blue polo-style sweater that previously belonged to George to meet Sir David Attenborough in 2020, and he popped up at Trooping the Colour in 2022 sporting the same sailor suit once seen on his father at the same event in 1985.
While it wouldn’t shock royal watchers if Middleton dressed her kids in vintage outfits for the upcoming coronation of King Charles III, don’t be surprised if Louis stays home during the festivities.
A palace insider told Pvnew the Waleses might not bring along little Louis on May 6 following his viral antics at the Platinum Jubilee last summer.
“He’s only 4, after all,” the source added.
With his attendance status still in limbo, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for another sweet Louis style moment.
