Martin Lawrence gave insight into his friend Jamie Foxx’s health one week after the Oscar winner’s “medical complication.”
The “Martin” alum told Extra on Thursday that the 55-year-old is “doing better.”
Lawrence, 58, shared his well-wishes, calling Foxx “one of the best that we got in Hollywood.”
He added, “Not only one of the best entertainers, but a good person. … My prayers go out for him every night and just wishing the best for him.”
On April 12, Foxx’s eldest child, daughter Corinne, revealed her dad’s health scare via Instagram.
“My father … experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” read the 29-year-old actress’s statement, which was signed by “the Foxx family.”
The message continued, “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers.”
Everything we know about Jamie Foxx's hospitalization
When was Foxx hospitalized?
Jamie Foxx was hospitalized in Georgia on April 12 after suffering from a “medical complication,” according to a post on his daughter’s Instagram.
Foxx, now reportedly awake and alert, is still in the hospital nearly three weeks after the undisclosed “medical complication.” Doctors are still running tests to try to figure out what exactly happened.
Family and friends who are close to him are asking fans to pray for him.
What are his family and friends saying?
Corinne Foxx, Jamie’s daughter, wrote, “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” in an Instagram story.
“Masked Singer” host Nick Cannon asked his fans to speak “words of affirmation” over Foxx as he continues to recover.
Martin Lawrence told the media that Foxx was “doing better” and called Foxx “one of the best that we got in Hollywood.”
Actress Kerry Washington posted an appreciation post on her Instagram of her and Foxx after hearing about his hospitalization.
What was Foxx working on before being rushed to the hospital?
Before going to the hospital, Foxx was working on the “Back in Action” movie with actress Cameron Diaz. While Foxx remains in the hospital, Diaz returned to the set to film scenes with Foxx’s body double.
“Beat Shazam,” the game show co-hosted by Foxx and his daughter Corinne, has started filming its new season and found another host to replace Fox, according to reports.
Corinne will not be in the new season as she will be staying by her father’s side at the hospital.

While Corinne and her family members have not addressed Foxx’s progress since, People reported last week that the singer is “steadily improving” while still hospitalized in Georgia.
Another source told CNN that doctors were “running tests and still trying to figure out exactly what happened” to the Grammy winner.
Foxx’s latest movie, “Back in Action,” briefly halted production after his April 11 hospitalization.
On Monday, however, his co-star Cameron Diaz was photographed on set acting alongside Foxx’s body double.
The film, which is the actress’ first movie since her 2014 retirement, has been mired in scandal.
Foxx reportedly had a meltdown on set last month that resulted in the firing of four crew members and allegedly led to Diaz, 50, considering re-retiring.
At the time, according to The Sun, the “Blame It” singer found himself the target of a $40,000 scam.
Foxx’s “Back in Action” co-stars have not commented on his hospitalization, but Kerry Washington, Nick Cannon and many more A-listers have showed support via social media.
Lawrence, for his part, wrote that he is sending “much love and many blessings” to the comedian.
