Sonja Morgan is finally bidding farewell to her luxe New York City townhouse — after it was sold to the highest bidder for half its purchase price.
The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum’s Upper East Side residence sold for $4.45 million after a two-week online auction wrapped up Wednesday, The New York Post reported.
Morgan, 60, originally purchased the home in 1998 with her husband, J.P. Morgan heir John Morgan, for $9.1 million. Following a nasty divorce, she listed it at a cool $9.95 million in 2013.

However, the home — which sits at 162 E. 63rd St. — struggled to find a buyer and was on and off the market for years. According to The Post, the reality star dropped the listing price to $7.2 million in 2015. After no one snatched it up, she opted to list it for rent at $32,000 a month in 2018.
Morgan renovated the opulent home last summer and relisted it for $8.75 million. She later dropped the price to $7.5 million.
The 4,650-square-foot townhouse features 5 bedrooms, 5 full baths and one half bath. Some of its notable features include custom woodwork, antique P.E. Guerin hardware and a stunning solarium that opens up to a 35-foot private garden with a fountain and a koi pond.
“This townhouse has been our cherished home for decades,” Morgan told The Post when the auction was announced in April. “In addition to raising my daughter here, we entertained heads of state, royalty, luminaries and Fortune 500 CEOs.”
“Many memories were made over the years, including hosting my daughter’s friends from boarding school and university, and so many noteworthy moments were filmed by NBC for Bravo and Peacock TV.”
She added, “Now, as an empty nester, I am ready to share this turnkey, easy-to-manage jewel over to someone new to enjoy as we did.”
Morgan shares a daughter, Quincy Adams Morgan, with her ex-husband. She was born in 2000 and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2023.
The auction closed Wednesday at 4 p.m. and was organized by Concierge Auctions.
It was listed with Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group.
