Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke reportedly tried to save their relationship with couples therapy before calling off their engagement.
“Carl had major fundamental issues before the wedding and wanted to take an honest look at them,” an insider told Us Weekly Monday.
“They had actually seen a counselor. But Carl didn’t think it was a good way to start their forever together.”
The source also claimed one of the biggest challenges in their relationship was drinking since Radke had been sober since January 2021.
“Sobriety was a big issue for him,” the source added. “Lindsay had become sober, but then incorporated drinking back into her lifestyle.”
In light of their differences, Radke was “nervous about their future together without figuring things out,” according to the insider.
“Things were not resolved between Carl and Lindsay as the wedding was approaching.”
However, Radke, 38, previously told Us Weekly back in February that he didn’t mind his then-fiancée having “a glass of wine with her aunt or having a Loverboy [canned cocktail] with whomever.”
Hubbard, 37, was reportedly “blindsided” and “devastated” by her “Summer House” co-star’s decision to call off their wedding less than three months before they were set to say “I do.”
Earlier this month, she publicly addressed the broken engagement for the first time, admitting that was “humiliated” by her ex.
“My entire life and future was ripped out from underneath me and I’ve had a hard time making sense of it all — with no answers or closure on why,” the former publicist shared via Instagram on Sept. 14.
“This was not my decision, and I do not agree with quitting a relationship (at this level) without trying everything possible first,” she added.
“I have spent the last couple of weeks finding my own closure and peace.”
Radke also spoke out about the split in a letter to their wedding guests obtained by People.
“The fact of the matter is Lindsay is devastated and I’m crushed with how all this transpired,” he wrote.
“I graciously ask for some patience and grace to heal and recover while we navigate this extremely difficult time.”
Despite the breakup, Hubbard jetted off to the Bahamas with her gal pals last week for her would-be bachelorette bash.
“After having a rough couple weeks, her friends convinced her they are not canceling her bachelorette party getaway,” a source told Us Weekly Thursday.
During the trip, the newly single Bravolebrity twerked on a yacht and dressed for revenge in a sexy jumpsuit.
