Cher says men her age can’t handle her.
While chatting to Jennifer Hudson on Wednesday’s episode of her talk show, the multi-hyphenate performer explained that she dates younger men because she’s “kinda shy” around men in general.
“And the reason I got with young men is because men my age are older — well now they’re all dead — but before, they were always terrified to approach me. And younger men — they were raised by women like me,” the 77-year-old detailed.
“They are bold,” Hudson added, to which Cher agreed.

Before confessing why she prefers younger men, Cher claimed that she had previously shut down Elvis Presley’s romantic advances because she was “nervous” about his reputation and she “knew of the people around him.”
The “Moonstruck” actress is currently dating music executive Alexander “AE” Edwards, who, at 38, is 40 years her junior. They met at Paris Fashion Week in September 2022 but briefly broke up in May 2023.
The two fueled rekindling rumors by September 2023 when they were spotted holding hands after a dinner date in Los Angeles.
After getting back together, Cher confessed that the romance was unexpected.
“I told my friends, don’t fall in love with a younger man, we’re too old. And don’t fall in love by text. There goes that theory,” Cher said during an episode of “Chicken Soup Date” in December 2023.
She has also defended their unlikely romance multiple times.
Amid criticism over their 40-year gap, Cher fired back on Twitter, posting, “haven’t You Got Anything Else 2 Do?! Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A [flying] FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS.”
The “Burlesque” star, who was previously married to Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman, has dated other boldfaced names including David Geffen, 81, and Gene Simmons, 74.
She has also enjoyed romances with Tom Cruise, 61, Richie Sambora, 64, and Val Kilmer, also 64.
One of her more serious relationships was with Rob Camiletti, whom she met when she was 40 and he was 22.
The press nicknamed him the “Bagel Boy,” because of his age and occupation as a bagel-maker.
He accompanied her to the 1998 Oscars when she won Best Actress for her role in “Moonstruck” and holds a special place in the singer’s heart.
When asked who the love of her life was during a 2020 interview with The Guardian, Cher answered, “Well, I think Robert [Camilletti] and Gregory Allman.”
She added, “Robert was completely different. He was like a rock.”
