Kate Hudson’s relationship with her estranged biological father, Bill Hudson, is “warming up.”
The actress gave a rare update on their connection during a “CBS Sunday Morning” appearance.
“It’ll be whatever it will be,” she explained. “I have no expectation of that with my father. I just want him to be happy.”

Kate, 45, clarified that she and Bill, 74, “don’t really” have a relationship currently.
The “Almost Famous” star’s mother, Goldie Hawn, welcomed Kate and Oliver Hudson with Bill during their six-year marriage.
The former couple finalized their divorce in 1982, with the Oscar winner, now 78, moving on with Kurt Russell the following year.
Kate and Oliver, 47, have long praised the “Hateful Eight” star, 73, for acting as their father figure.
“I often wonder how different our life would have been if he never entered the picture,” the Fabletics co-creator told her Instagram followers in a 2021 birthday tribute. “How different I would be.”
As for her “Sibling Revelry” podcast co-host, Oliver gushed over their “tight family” to Us Weekly that same year.
Oliver made headlines in June 2015 for wishing Bill a “happy abandonment day” on Father’s Day via Instagram.
The musician told the Daily Mail that his children were “dead to” him at the time and no longer “recognize[d] as [his] own.”
Russell clarified to E! News the following month that there was “some nice back and forth between Bill and Oliver” after the shady social media upload.
In January 2021, Kate told podcast listeners that she was interested in reconciling with Bill’s other children.
“We’ve got four siblings we don’t spend any time with,” the singer said at the time. “We don’t ever acknowledge the fact that we have four other siblings — four.
“So I’ve been thinking a lot about the Hudsons,” she continued. “Thinking that it’s important that we reach out with all of our siblings and maybe connect with them a little bit.”
