Morgan Wallen is taking “responsibility” and expressing remorse over his April 7 arrest in Nashville, Tenn.
“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks,” the country singer said in a statement on social media Friday. “I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s.”
“I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” he added.
In a second tweet, Wallen continued, “I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe.”
Morgan Wallen’s arrest stems from a drinking ‘problem’: sources
Morgan Wallen’s drinking is a ‘problem that keeps coming around’
Morgan Wallen chats with mystery woman in photos taken minutes before he allegedly threw chair off rooftop
He also confirmed there will be “no change” regarding the 2024 leg of his One Night at a Time World Tour, which kicked off in Indianapolis, Ind., just days before his arrest.
The “Last Night” singer, 30, was taken into police custody on three counts of reckless endangerment after he allegedly threw a chair off the roof of Eric Church’s honky-tonk bar, Chief’s on Broadway
The chair landed near two officers who were standing in front of the six-story restaurant. He was also charged with disorderly conduct.
He didn’t seem too concerned about the incident as he smiled in his mugshot. He was released from Davidson County Jail around 3:30 a.m. on April 8 after his bond was set at $15,250.
He must appear in court on May 3, which lands on the same day as his second scheduled Nashville tour stop.
Wallen’s outburst was reportedly his reaction to learning that his ex-fiancée, Katie “KT” Smith, married Luke Scornavacco on April 3.
“KT’s marriage to Luke last week just crushed him,” an insider claimed to the Daily Mail. “Whatever happened at that bar had to be reality hitting him in the face over losing the love of his life.”
The Grammy nominated singer got engaged to KT in 2016 after a few months of dating, but they broke up for good in November 2019. However, they welcomed a son together in 2020.
Meanwhile, another source claimed to People that Wallen’s drinking habits contributed to his tantrum.
“Morgan is generally a nice, fun person to hang out with, but when he gets going, he doesn’t know when to stop,” the insider claimed.
“Morgan and alcohol is a problem, and it’s been a problem that keeps coming back around.”
Wallen was arrested in 2020 at Kid Rock’s Nashville bar on public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges.
He was also hit with a DUI charge in 2016, but the case was dropped.
