Inside Emma Roberts’ $3.6M ‘grown-up dollhouse’ in LA: ‘The home is like a womb’

Emma Roberts’ $3.6 million home in Los Angeles is like something out of a fairy tale.

“The home is like a womb,” the actress, who lives in the cozy abode with her and ex-partner Garrett Hedlund’s 3-year-old son, Rhodes, told Architectural Digest.

“I haven’t always had that — I think I lived in 10 houses by the time I was 15 — so for me now, having a son, I wanted a place that felt really ours.”

The “American Horror Story” star turned to designers Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward to transform the residence into a cozy “grown-up dollhouse.”

“What I love about this house is, it speaks for itself, where it’s like a grown-up dollhouse. It’s very storybook,” she explained. “And when we were moving in it was just me and my son, so I was just like, ‘I want this to be our house,’ that is just our style and filled with our memories and our love.”

Roberts’ living room, where she loves to cuddle up by the fire and read, is filled with antique furniture and tons of patterns and textures.

“It’s like a grown-up dollhouse,” she said of the home. “It’s very storybook.”

“I feel like there can never be enough stripes or fringe or tassels in a house,” she added, “which I know people would disagree with, but I love it.”

Pierce told the magazine that the decor concept is based on making sure the home doesn’t look “new.”

“We want a house to look like it’s been there for 50 years,” the Pierce & Ward co-founder said.

The office area in Roberts’ home features a classical desk and chair that’s situated beneath the former Nickelodeon star’s mood board.

“I love an inspo board,” she explained, adding that it’s “always in progress.”

Adjacent to her mood board are several shelves containing Roberts’ impressive doll collection.

“I’m really excited to show you guys the doll wall,” she said while giving the outlet a tour. “I’m madly obsessed with [the dolls]. In love with them.”

Her treasured collection includes a Leggy Jill, a Blythe Doll and a Drunk Cowgirl Barbie that Roberts was convinced did not truly exist until she acquired one.

The “Scream Queens” alum also revealed that she and her son spend the most time in their TV room.

“It is the comfiest couch, very comfy chairs,” she said, adding that her son’s toy chest is also in the room. “We love it in here.”

The room also has what she calls “the start of a Joni Mitchell shrine,” a Restoration Hardware lantern, and a spanning bookshelf with several reads and more collectible dolls.

Roberts’ farmhouse-style kitchen has rustic wood finishes, white-and-brown tiled flooring and soft ivory cabinets filled with her eclectic mug collection.

Meanwhile, her son’s snug yet sophisticated bedroom mirrors the vintage feel of the home.

As for the primary suite, it’s styled with vintage lamps and mismatched side tables – with no shortage of floral touches, frills and drapery.

“It looks like one big painting,” she said of her bedroom. “It’s so beautiful and it’s so in cozy here. As I said, cozy is the word I’m always looking for.”

The en suite bathroom has stunning pomegranate-tiled floors, a vanity area where she frequently sets up her workspace and a freestanding bathtub.

Roberts’ lush estate features a charming, vine-covered gazebo, a natural stone swimming pool and flourishing greenery.
