Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s union was not so golden.
The “Golden Bachelor” couple announced Friday that they are divorcing after just three months of marriage.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Turner, 72, told “Good Morning America” viewers.

When journalist Juju Chang asked whether that meant a “divorce,” he replied, “Yes.”
Nist, 70, chimed in, “We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody.”
The reality stars were both previously married and widowed when they fell in love on the first season of the Bachelor Nation spinoff show.
Turner proposed to Nist during the series finale, which aired in November 2023.
Two months later, the duo walked down the aisle in a televised wedding attended by Susan Noles, Kathy Swarts and more fan favorites from the season.
The pair’s marriage was a long-distance one, as Nist and Turner remained in New Jersey and Indiana, respectively, where their children reside.

The duo’s decision to break up comes from “how dedicated” they are to their families, Turner clarified Friday.
“We look at these situations, and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart,” he said.
While “the plan” was to make their union work, Nist said, “We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision.”
The former ABC personalities held hands during the interview and both stated that they do continue to “love” each other.
Turner was previously married to Toni Turner for 43 years until her 2017 death, welcoming two daughters during their time together.
As for Nist, she shared two children with husband William “Bill” Nist before his death.
