Fan favorite “Golden Bachelor” contestant Susan Noles shared why Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist are already getting divorced.
Noles, 67, disclosed the reason behind Turner, 72, filing to end his three-month marriage to Nist, 70, on Friday in response to a fan’s inquisitive comment on the Instagram account for the “Golden Hour” podcast she co-hosts with her former co-star Kathy Swarts.
“neither one of them can leave their families,” she wrote.

Turner and Nist announced their divorce earlier Friday, saying on “Good Morning America” that the decision stemmed from issues regarding their living situation.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Turner said.
Nist added, “We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody.”
In trying to make their marriage work, the pair searched for a house in South Carolina and New Jersey before ultimately deciding to throw in the towel.
“We just looked at homes after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,” Nist shared.
“We look at these situations, and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart,” Turner chimed in.
The couple began dating on the first season of the “Bachelor” spinoff and got engaged in the season finale, which aired in November 2023. They married in January in a live TV special.
Both had previously been married and widowed when they started their relationship on the ABC show.
Nist also squashed any speculation that the couple was divorcing due to reports about Turner’s previous dating history.
Prior to their nuptials, the Los Angeles Times published a story stating that Turner had dated multiple women after the 2017 death of his first wife, Toni — despite saying on “The Golden Bachelor” that he had not been with anyone since becoming a widower.
On “GMA,” Nist shared that Turner “had already discussed that” with her before they walked down the aisle and that she had no issue with his dating history.
“He had explained it to me before the report was ever released, so we were good with that,” she said, adding, “That didn’t play into it.”
