“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Mia Thornton is getting real about her decision to file for divorce from estranged husband Gordon Thornton last fall.
“I want to say my breaking point was when he publicly decided to shame me,” the Bravolebrity, 39, exclusively tells Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast, explaining that disparaging remarks made by Gordon, 71, in October 2023 pushed her to make their split permanent.
“And I said, ‘OK, this is not what we’re doing.’ And I filed. Yeah, I did because I’m like, ‘Let’s go ahead and get this clock rolling,’” she adds. “I just don’t want to be a part of it.”
Mia and Gordon — who share son Jeremiah, 8, and daughter Juliana, 6, while she parents teen son Joshua from a previous relationship — separated in June 2023, but didn’t publicly announce their breakup until that September.

Mia was incensed by such remarks — but emphasizes that she would “never publicly shame” Gordon, noting that it’s important for her to preserve his relationship with their two young kids.
“I’m trying to reel him in and we need to work together as a family. We have these beautiful babies that we’re raising and being a mom is No. 1 for me,” she says. “And I’m very proud to hold that title of being Supermom. And we have happy kids. I want them to stay happy.”
Mia, who is currently dating radio DJ Incognito, says that she and Gordon have finally established a healthy co-parenting dynamic as they work out the details of their divorce.
“It’s going well. It is, now. And hopefully it stays that way. I don’t keep the kids away from Gordon. I want him to be a huge part of their lives. I do want him to remain the kids’ hero. You know, that’s their dad,” she says, divulging that things weren’t always congenial.
“I told him, ‘Hey, if you don’t get with the program, then you’re going to put me in a position to where you’re not going to see your kids,’” she says, sharing the warning she gave her businessman ex. “So pick a side.”
Gordon quickly “got with the program,” Mia says, and now frequently joins the “Housewives” star on dates with her new beau, radio DJ Incognito, and their children.
She tells “Virtual Reali-Tea” that she expects to go the distance with Incognito — but dispels rumors that she and her man are tying the knot on April 4. Instagram users speculated that springtime nuptials were in the works after she shared a “4.4.4” caption in December 2023, accompanied by loving sentiments.
“So there is not a wedding in April, OK? 444 is an angel number that he and I share. It’s what we feel represents our connection,” she says of the number that is believed to be a sign for “love, support and guidance” from a higher realm.
“We have wedding on the brain,” she says, “but I have to get divorced first!”
Until then, Mia is relishing in reconnecting with Incognito, her high school sweetheart with whom she went to prom.
“He’s amazing in so many ways and … he knows Mia without all of the exterior. He knows the core. I’m just happy he’s back in the mix,” she raves.
“He has his own show. He’s a syndicated radio personality and he’s in over 20 markets, so he’s booked and busy trying to keep up with little me — and I’m loving it.”
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
