Hoda Kotb recently went on her first date since breaking up with her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman, in 2022.
The “Today With Hoda and Jenna” anchor, 59, reveals the news in a preview for Tuesday’s episode of the “Kelly Clarkson Show.”
“I do have to say something,” she teases in the clip. “Something did happen the other day that hasn’t happened in two years … I had a date! I had a date!”

The audience immediately burst out in applause and cheers with Clarkson, 41, praising her for the “huge” milestone.
However, Kotb didn’t want to get wrapped up in the future possibilities, telling the singer, “But you know what it was? It was just a date. It was nothing but a date.”
The broadcaster then turns the tables on Clarkson –– who went through a tumultuous divorce from Brandon Blackstock –– and asks her if she’s at the place in life to “think about going out on a date.”
“Not at all,” Clarkson quips while the audience laughs.
“Not even a little bit. I am really loving not having a man in my life, like, it’s just too hard.”
Kotb kept the details of the date close to her chest, but she also accidentally mentioned it on a Feb. 15 episode of “Today With Hoda and Jenna.”
The mom of two was talking to Jennifer Lopez about relationships when the actress spilled, “You just told me about your setup tonight.”
“I just told her I had a date tonight, which that wasn’t supposed to be public,” Kotb said while laughing.
After two years of riding solo, Jenna Bush Hager had begged Kotb to let her set her up on a blind date.
She even teased on a Feb. 19 episode that she was “in the process” of setting her up with a friend as Kotb tried to move on to the next topic.
The “Hope Is A Rainbow” author has been single ever since calling off her engagement to Schiffman in January 2022.
“It’s not like something happened. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, for a season or for a lifetime, and I feel like ours was meant to be there for a season,” she shared on “Today with Hoda & Jenna” at the time.
The duo dated for eight years and were engaged for two. The two also share daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 4, whom they adopted in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
