Kurt Sutter‘s upcoming western series “The Abandons” is rounding out its cast.
PvNew has learned exclusively that Ryan Hurst, Michael Greyeyes, Michiel Huisman, and Toby Hemingway have all joined the Netflix series in recurring roles. Exact character details are being kept under wraps.
The series marks a reunion for Hurst and Sutter, who previously worked together on the hit FX series “Sons of Anarchy.” Sutter created the series, on which Hurst played the character Opie for the show’s first five seasons. Hurst is also known for his time on “The Walking Dead” and shows like “Bates Motel” and “Outsiders.” He has starred in films like “Remember the Titans” and “We Were Soldiers.”
He is repped by UTA and Piper Kaniecki Management.
Greyeyes has previously been in films such as “Blood Quantum” and “Wild Indian.” His recent credits include the Taylor Sheridan series “1923” at Paramount+ and the comedy “Rutherford Falls” at Peacock.
He is repped by TalentWorks, The Artist Representation Company, and Mills Kaplan Entertainment.
Huisman recently starred in Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” films at Netflix, with Part Two due to debut on the streamer on April 19. He is perhaps best known for his role as Daario Naharis in “Game of Thrones.” He has also starred in shows like “Echo 3” and Season 1 of “The Flight Attendant.”
He is repped by UTA, Conway Van Gelder Grant, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Peikoff Mahan.
Hemingway has previously appeared in shows like “The Crossing,” “FBI: Most Wanted,” and “Hell on Wheels,” as well as films like “Black Swan” and “The Covenant.”
He is repped by Buchwald, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Hirsch Wallerstein.
It was previously announced that “The Abandons” will star Lena Heady, Gillian Anderson, Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lucas Till, Lamar Johnson, Aisling Franciosi, and Natalia del Riego. Additional cast members are Brían F. O’Byrne, Clayton Cardenas, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, Haig Sutherland, Jack Doolan, Jonathan Koensgen, Katelyn Wells, Marc Menchaca, Michael Ornstein, Patton Oswalt, and Sarah White.
The official description of the series states:
“As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law.”
Sutter created “The Abandons” and serves as showrunner and executive producer under his Sutter Ink banner. Emmy Grinwis, Jon Paré, Otto Bathurst, and Stephen Surjik also executive produce.
