The higher the hair, the closer to Kurt.
Miley Cyrus rocked some seriously ’80s hair on the Grammys 2024 red carpet Sunday night, and fans had a field day on social media comparing her voluminous, teased look to many a celeb — including Kurt Russell, Dolly Parton and even Dog the Bounty Hunter.
The “Flowers” singer, 31 — who won her first Grammy at the 69th annual awards show — rocked a bold gold Maison Margiela dress made entirely from safety pins on the red carpet, but her barely-there ‘fit wasn’t the only thing that got viewers talking.
Cyrus sported a huge bouffant that brought back memories of ’80s hair bands, wearing her brown locks teased sky-high and curled away from her face.
Social media users went wild posting about her new ‘do, and the celeb comparisons certainly ran the gamut.
“I loved Miley’s hairdresser’s tribute to Kurt Russell,” one fan hilariously tweeted, and while his 1980s hair certainly has a similar vibe, the actor wasn’t the only guy whose hair got thrown into the mix.
“Miley Cyrus’s hair giving Dog the Bounty Hunter vibes #GRAMMYs” another Twitter user wrote, sharing a gif of the reality TV star.
Naturally, her godmother, Dolly Parton, also was the subject of many tweets, with one fan tweeting, “Miley Cyrus got the Tease it to Jesus Dolly Hair #Grammys.”
Another Twitter users also threw in dad Billy Ray Cyrus, writing, “I adore that @MileyCyrus combined her dad’s hair do and auntie Dolly’s all at once.”
Despite the jokes, plenty of fans were loving the big hair, like one who tweeted, “I think Miley Cyrus should help us all bring back power hair. We deserve it.”
“I know someone at home watching the Grammys thinks Miley Cyrus’ hair looked bad tonight but I need you to know that actually it is SO chic. Expert work because this probably shouldn’t work,” another added.
Hair aside, the “Party in the USA” singer also made plenty of fashion statements at the Grammys, changing from her gold red carpet look into a sequined Tom Ford jumpsuit before accepting the Grammy for best pop solo performance.
She then slipped into a sparkly fringed Bob Mackie look reminiscent of Cher to perform “Flowers,” making yet another style switch-up into a one-shouldered Gucci gown with a high slit to accept the Grammy for record of the year.
Let’s hope she brings even more hair-raising style moments as 2024 continues.
