Halle Bailey has revealed why she kept her pregnancy a secret despite some fans figuring out she was expecting.
Taking to her Snapchat this week to answer some fan questions, the new mom of son Halo, who was born in December 2023, said she “just wanted to make sure [she] had a beautiful, private healthy time” throughout her pregnancy journey.
She also thanked fans for being “so kind and understanding,” especially with her decision “to wait to share something this sacred and beautiful.”
Bailey, 23, also answered an admirerer wondering how hard it was to deal with “blogs and cameras” as she attempted to keep her pregnancy hidden.
“Honestly I stayed off of all social media. I really tried to just keep myself sane and I know that there was a lot of people who would always comment and be like, ‘We know girl, we know,'” she recalled.
“And I’m like, ‘OK, that’s great that you know, but I’m just going to chill.'”
All in all, she said it was just “a little bit” stressful.
Later in the Q&A, Bailey answered a pregnant fan’s question about how she was able to muster up the energy to attend award shows and media events while pregnant.
“I think for me, I just realized I think it was helpful for me to be able to still be working and have something to promote, like the beautiful film I was a part of,” she explained, referencing her movie, “The Color Purple,” which was released on Dec. 25, 2023.
“It just helps my brain and to feel sane … there’s a lot of emotional vulnerability that you experience going through all of that.”
Bailey sparked pregnancy speculation in September 2023 when she attended the MTV Video Music Awards in a flowing dress that hid her stomach.
Furthermore, an eyewitness at the event told Pvnew that “Halle stayed away from the pink carpet so she would not be photographed, and when she was inside, she was very mindful in the way she gave hugs, and who she gave them to.”
Fans were certain she was hiding a baby bump once she walked the carpet at London’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards in a poofy black dress in October 2023.
She also rocked a voluminous dress at “The Color Purple” premiere in early December 2023, fueling speculation further.
Not long after, Bailey welcomed her baby boy with her rapper boyfriend, DDG.
