Jo Koy says he didn’t mean any harm when he mocked Taylor Swift during his Golden Globes 2024 opening monologue.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” the comedian said.
When the camera panned to the “Bad Blood” singer, she could be seen glaring at the evening’s host as she sipped her champagne.
“Aww, man, it was cute. I was just saying it was cute,” Koy told “Entertainment Tonight.”
“I was just saying it’s less cutaways, that’s all.”
The pop star appeared to leave the awards show early after Koy’s joke — and her category loss.
The singer’s “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” film, which was nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures, lost to “Barbie” Sunday night.
Swift, 34, and the NFL came under fire in 2023 for focusing the cameras on the pop star amid her relationship with Travis Kelce instead of zooming in on the games.
While the NFL eventually backed off from its Swift obsession after its devoted fans grew irritated, the “Mad Woman” performer told Time magazine that she wasn’t aware of the constant pans to her.
“I’m just there to support Travis,” Swift told the publication of her presence at Kansas City Chiefs games. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads and Chads.”
Kelce, 34, also dismissed the booing Swift received at his games and lauded her for being so “amazing.”
“There might have been a few Brads and Chads that were booing,” he said, referring to her Time interview, “but for the most part, everyone was f–king screaming their tail off for her.”
The tight end didn’t attend the Golden Globes with his girlfriend because he and his team were busy defeating the Los Angeles Chargers, 13-12.
Instead, Swift had a girls’ night with best friends Selena Gomez and Keleigh Sperry that included an intense gossip session.
