It may not have been a happy new year for singer Monica.
The “Boy Is Mine” songstress appeared to pass out in the middle of her concert in Houston, Texas on Saturday night, per video footage obtained by TMZ Monday.
The “For You I Will” hitmaker, 43, seemingly fainted on the side of the stage before a crew member whisked her away and into an ambulance, fans on X claimed.
“They’re saying Monica left in an ambulance after passing out by the stairs,” one social media user alleged, noting something “seemed off” throughout the concert.
Pvnew reached out to Monica’s reps for comment, but we have yet to receive a response, so the details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
However, the musician has been open about her health struggles in the past, including mitral valve prolapse, which began when she was on tour at age 18. The disease occurs when the flap that separates the upper and lower chambers of the heart doesn’t close properly, per the Mayo Clinic.
Monica, who has also been hospitalized for high blood pressure and endometriosis, detailed the heart valve condition in a 2016 interview with the Huffington Post.
She recalled performing “Angel of Mine” during a concert in Washington D.C. when she began losing consciousness.
“Everything in front of me basically began to go from color to black-and-white, fading in and out,” she said.
“I walked to the side of the stage to ask for help and collapsed into one of our staff people’s arms.”
The mom of three is believed to have been hospitalized for almost a month as doctors worked to determine what caused the incident.
She eventually returned to touring, and is slated to perform a string of shows over the next two months.
Monica is also a mother to sons Rodney, 19, and Romelo, 16, who she shares with her ex-fiancé Rodney ‘Rocko’ Hill. They dated on and off from 2003 until 2010.
She went on to wed NBA star Shannon Brown in 2010, and the pair share a 10-year-old daughter named Laiyah.
She eventually filed for divorce from the athlete in March 2019.
