There was reportedly no saving Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson’s “unhealthy” marriage.
Just days after the “Sex Education” star filed for divorce from her husband of nearly four years, sources told People that the actress had simply “decided that she is done.”
“They are on very different paths in life,” the insider told the outlet. “Jodie loves being a mom. She also loves working.”
“It turned into an unhealthy marriage that made her unhappy,” the source added. “They will co-parent their daughter. They want her to continue to thrive.”
The “Queen & Slim” actress, 37, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split in her divorce filing Monday.
She also asked the judge to grant joint custody of their 3-year-old daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, who they often refer to as Janie.
She listed their official date of separation as Sept. 13, 2023.
Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly Tuesday that the “Dawson’s Creek” alum, 45, was “was clearly caught off guard” by the divorce.
“They had their issues, as many couples do — especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child,” the insider said. “Joshua obviously didn’t realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy.”
Not only was Jackson surprised, but the pair’s pals were also left “baffled and trying to understand how this came about.”
While the insider admitted that married life was a big change for the “free spirited” Turner-Smith, they said the now-exes “seemed so devoted to each other.”
Although many of their fans and friends have been left stunned by their split, Turner-Smith and Jackson sparked breakup rumors around the same time last year.
In September 2022, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the then-couple had unfollowed each other on social media.
A few months prior, Jackson had also raised eyebrows when he admitted that he thought extramarital affairs could “be forgiven.”
Despite the speculation, the pair continued to gush about each other in interviews and show up to red carpets hand-in-hand.
In fact, they were all smiles while attending a fashion week event just one day before they officially separated, per the divorce filing.
The twosome, who wore matching black outfits, were photographed holding hands while walking into the COS Autumn/Winter 2023 fashion show on Sept. 12.
The following week, the actress traveled to Milan for another fashion show — where she was photographed still wearing her wedding ring.
The estranged couple met at a party in 2018 and tied the knot a year later. They welcomed their baby girl four months after their wedding.
