Taylor Rue is still trying to process the hurtful comments her now ex-fiancé, Jared “JP” Pierce, made during Season 5 of “Love Is Blind.”
“It was hard. I felt broken down. I felt heartbroken,” the blond beauty exclusively told Pvnew in a new interview.
“I did not know what to do. I didn’t know how to handle it.”
After proposing to Taylor – sight unseen – in the pods, JP had a hard time communicating with his new fiancée as they tested their relationship out in the real world.
The quiet firefighter made several remarks about Taylor’s appearance, going so far to claim that her “fake” look was the reason why things were “awkward” between them.
“I understand that you were trying to present yourself as your best self,” JP told a fresh-faced Taylor while lying in bed during their Mexican getaway. “But if you would have presented yourself like this, without any makeup, it would have been better.”
Taylor then asked, “So the way I looked made you communicate differently?” to which JP responded, “It felt like you were fake.”
JP went on to argue that how Taylor chose to do her makeup on the day they first met post-pods is “what started” it all.
“You had [a] caked-up face, fake eyelashes. I’m being honest and I’m sorry that’s so hard to hear … you presented fake stuff,” he said of her glam look, with Taylor saying that she simply “dressed up” and put on makeup to “feel pretty,” as women often do.
After JP told her, “Just don’t wear makeup,” a frustrated Taylor said she was “done” with the conversation and would be sleeping in a separate room that night.
“It was super off putting because I wasn’t expecting that at all,” Taylor told Pvnew while reflecting on her experience with JP.
“Like, we went on this show to fall in love, based on our emotional connection – and we had made that strong, emotional connection,” she continued. “For it to be, like, totally thrown out the window in Mexico due to my makeup, I was at a loss for words. I was like, ‘I don’t understand what’s going on.’”
As fans witnessed in episode six, Taylor ended up calling it quits with JP before they even left Mexico.
“[You’re] completely different,” she told him in part, taking off her engagement ring and setting it down on the table in front of them. “You’re not the person I fell in love with … I feel very uncomfortable.”
Taylor told Pvnew that not much has changed since that heartbreaking conversation went down.
“So right after Mexico, he reached out to me and I just wasn’t ready to talk to him. I needed to, like, heal myself and be alone,” she explained.
“Then a couple of months back, I had reached out to him and we texted for a bit. The conversation was good, but our timing just didn’t work out, so we never actually met up.”
As for what she would tell herself if she went back into the pods, knowing what she knows now?
“I feel like I handled everything pretty well,” she said confidently. “But, yeah, I would probably just tell myself, ‘Stay true to who you are.’ Like, just because you care about somebody doesn’t mean you stay.’”
Season 5 of “Love Is Blind” is streaming now on Netflix, with new episodes dropping Oct. 6.
