Meg Ryan stepped out for a night on the town in New York City Wednesday night amid news that her upcoming rom-com, “What Happens Later,” has been pushed back.
The actress, 61, looked gorgeous in green as she enjoyed a stroll in the buzzy Soho neighborhood with a friend, according to photos obtained by Pvnew.
Ryan wore a $755 army green midi shirt dress by Moncler that puffed at the sleeves and cinched at the waist.
She accessorized with black Dr. Martens Oxfords and a coordinating messenger bag, with her famous blond locks styled down and framing her face.
The “When Harry Met Sally” star appeared to be chipper as she flashed a big smile despite her new movie being delayed.
Film company Bleecker Street announced earlier this month that the release date for “What Happens Later” – Ryan’s big rom-com comeback – has been halted due to Taylor Swift releasing her “Eras Tour Concerts” movie at the same time.
The film was scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 13, but will now premiere on Nov. 3, which is the last weekend AMC will show Swift’s movie. The move allows Ryan to avoid going head-to-head with Swift’s movie at the box office.
Ryan’s film – which was directed and co-written by the Hollywood star and adapted from Steven Dietz’s 2008 play “Shooting Star” – marks the actress’ return to the rom-com genre after a 14-year hiatus.
Ryan will co-star beside David Duchovny in the movie, which tells the story of two ex-lovers who get stranded at an airport together at night.
The Golden Globe-nominated star has stayed relatively off the radar in recent years.
In May, Ryan stepped out for the first time in six months looking completely unrecognizable while attending a screening of the movie “Still” at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
Many fans accused Ryan of turning to plastic surgery, while others defended her, claiming that she simply looks different now that she’s older.
Ryan is no stranger to being criticized in the public eye as her appearance has shifted over the years.
The mom of two told Porter Magazine in 2015 that she “doesn’t pay attention” to the trolls.
“There’s a lot of hatred in the world today, it’s so easy to judge,” she said. “Imagine being a hater, how stupid! My women friends are not sitting around talking about … well, sometimes there are conversations like that, but the people I value talk about kids growing up, what kind of world they are going into, what we are eating, what we are breathing.”
Ryan is seemingly single at the moment after calling off her engagement and breaking up with on-again, off-again partner John Mellencamp in 2019.
The “Hurts So Good” singer, 71, later admitted to being “a s—ty boyfriend” to Ryan during their relationship and has since moved on with new girlfriend, socialite Kristin Kehrberg.
Ryan was previously married to Dennis Quaid from 1991 to 2001 and they share 31-year-old son Jack. She later adopted daughter Daisy, 19, in 2004.
