Dave Portnoy believes Travis Kelce is playing into romance rumors with Taylor Swift for his personal benefit.
The Barstool Sports founder re-posted a blog post from his employee and “Swiftie” Kelly Keegs that was titled, “I Now Think Travis Kelce Is Using Taylor Swift For Clout.”
“You know what? I ride with Keegs on this one. I Think Travis Kelce Is Using Taylor Swift For Clout,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
Portnoy, 46, shared his opinion just one night before Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, joked about whether the “Cruel Summer” singer and the Kansas City Chiefs player are romantically involved.
“It’s hard to answer because I don’t really know what’s happening with Travis’ love life,” Jason said during his interview with radio station 94WIP Wednesday when asked about the speculation.
However, the Philadelphia Eagles athlete, 35, then divulged, “But having said that, I think they’re doing great and I think it’s all 100 percent true.”
He then clarified, “No I’m joking. I don’t even know what’s happening.”
Swift and Travis, both 33, have been reportedly hanging out for a few weeks after the NFL champ tried – but failed – to give the pop star his phone number at one of her Eras Tour concerts in July.
A source then told the Messenger that the two were “quietly hanging out,” but both A-listers have not directly addressed their relationship status.
However, Travis laughed off some of the cheeky chatter on Sunday via Instagram.
After Jason spoke out about the rumored romance, Portnoy doubled down, tweeting Wednesday, “Again side with Keegs. Im sick and tired of the Kelce brothers.
He also added that he didn’t want to give the brothers “attention that they don’t deserve.”
Portnoy has been very vocal about the fact that he would not pick Travis to date Swift.
“Wouldn’t be my 1st choice but Mother works hard to provide for us,” he wrote on his Instagram Story last week. “She is allowed to have fun too.”
However, the social media personality then wrote that he “think[s]” he approves of the rumored romance after all, but he’s still hesitant because Travis is a “huge spotlight guy.”
“So I bet he likes the idea of dating Taylor more than actually dating her,” Portnoy wrote on a Sept. 12 Barstool blog. “But that’s okay. Taylor loves dating big-name celebs who are sure to break her heart so why not a football player over some DJ or musician?”
The famed pizza reviewer candidly added that “there is no shot in hell this relationship works,” but “at the very least we should get a few good songs out of the break up.”
