Russell Brand once “snogged” Meghan Markle.
During a 2018 interview that has resurfaced amid his rape scandal, the comedian bragged about kissing the Duchess of Sussex nearly a decade prior.
“She was in a film that I was in … ‘Get Him to the Greek’ it was called. Bloody good film,” he said on the British talk show “Loose Women” just a week before Markle married Prince Harry.
“I didn’t know her at the time because she wasn’t married to a royal person, so I wasn’t paying attention,” Brand noted.
The former actress had an uncredited appearance in the 2010 movie. She did not get her big break until her show “Suits” premiered the following year.
Brand admitted he did not “remember the film that much” because he was “still out of it,” referencing his past struggles with addiction.
However, the actor recalled, “I think I planted one on her in the scene. … It was scripted in the scene. I only know this because I think I saw a clip of it somewhere.”
Brand then jokingly suggested that if the archbishop at Markle and Harry’s royal wedding were to ask whether anyone had objections to the couple saying “I do,” someone should shout out, “Yeah, Russell Brand snogged her in that film!”
Over the weekend, the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star, 48, was the subject of a scathing article and TV special that accused him of abusive behavior including rape, sexual assault and grooming a 16-year-old between the years of 2006 and 2013.
Brand, who was married to Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012, vehemently denied the accusations and insisted that all of his sexual encounters and relationships were consensual.
“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies, and as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous,” he acknowledged in a video that he posted online before the bombshell exposé came out.
“Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual. I was always transparent about that then … and to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal, that I absolutely deny, makes me question, is there another agenda at play?”
Perry, 38, has not addressed the scandal.
