“Bachelor in Paraide” alums Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby have called it quits.
“We’re not together anymore,” Allio revealed on Monday’s episode of Jason Tartick’s “Trading Secrets” podcast.
“It’s not what we planned,” he continued. “We both threw a lot into this relationship and it’s really awful when it doesn’t work out.”
The reality star, who fell in love with Maltby, 37, while filming “BiP” Season 8 last year, said that the now-exes ultimately realized they were “not necessarily compatible.”
Allio elaborated, “You mourn the loss, not of just that person and that friend in your life, but also the future that you had envisioned. And it’s to no fault of hers.”
The father of one noted that Maltby “poured everything” into their relationship, therefore making the end of their romance bittersweet.
“I just have so much admiration [for her],” he explained. “We’re still working through some things and trying to stay close. But last couple months have been really tough.”
Maltby, for her part, has yet to publicly address the breakup.
Allio — who previously competed for Katie Thurston’s heart on “The Bachelorette” Season 17 in 2020 — told fellow Bachelor Nation star Tartick, 34, that the idea of being single again is scary.
“Starting over again, it is always frightening. It’s really frightening, but it’s a part of it,” he said. “I know that time will heal because I’ve felt that before, but it doesn’t make it any less difficult.”
Split speculation began this summer after fans noticed that Allio and Maltby stopped posting photos of each other on social media.
Allio played coy when asked about the status of their relationship during an August episode of the “She’s All Bach” podcast.
“Danielle and I, like, both agree that the only people that should be in our relationship are us two. So we think just the healthiest way to have a relationship is to keep it private,” he said, adding that “being in a public relationship isn’t fun.”
Prior to their split, Maltby — who originally joined the franchise during Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor” in 2017 — relocated to Ohio to be with Allio and his young son James, whom he shared with late wife Laura. The move came after Maltby and James bonded, a connection that Allio once swooned over.
“At that time when we first introduced him, I think we’d been dating for maybe, you know, six weeks, five weeks, which is way quicker than the timeline that I normally would have,” he told Us Weekly in November 2022.
“But I’m glad I did it. I saw their connection immediately and it’s just a beautiful thing.”
Maltby, at the time, said that Allio’s parenting abilities contributed to her attraction.
“Something that I’ve loved even more about you is just watching you be a dad. Like, every kid deserves a dad like Michael,” she told him directly during their joint chat with the outlet. “I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life.”
