Roy Wood Jr. has found there is indeed life after ‘The Daily Show.’

The former correspondent for the Comedy Central program has sold a memoir, titled “The Man of Many Fathers,” to Matt Inman at Crown, by Anthony Mattero at CAA after an auction.

Wood Jr.’s memoir will examine the most important lessons to come from the unexpected father figures who stepped into Wood’s life — some unknowingly — after his own father died when he was sixteen. Some of these people are bosses and teachers. Others are co-workers who used cocaine. One is an ex-con Wood met while working construction jobs in South Carolina. And others are big names in media and comedy.

The comedian uses these lessons to “audit” is own approach to fatherhood, and to unpack the complicated relationship he had with his own father.

Wood Jr. announced his departure from “Daily Show” in October after an eight-year run, citing concerns about the economic stability of TV’s late-night programming as more of the young people who typically watch the shows move to streaming entertainment at times of their own choosing. He had been seen as a potential replacement for Trevor Noah during a year in which Comedy Central tested several correspondents and guest stars in the role. Wood served as last year’s comic at the 2023 White House Correspondents Dinner.

Wood Jr. is currently touring North America on his “Happy to Be Here “stand-up tour. Wood Jr. is repped by CAA, Mainstay Entertainment, Sechel PR and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein Lezcano Bobb & Dang.
