Hugh Jackman is “devastated” by his split from his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.
A source close to the “Wolverine” star told Pvnew exclusively that he is reeling from the separation and is “very sad.”
The couple shocked fans when they jointly announced on Friday that they were separating after 27 years of marriage.
“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the estranged couple told People in a statement.
“Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
Jackman, 54, and Furness, 67, further added that “our family has been and always will be our highest priority” as “we undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness.”
“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives,” the statement continued before they signed off as “Deb and Hugh Jackman.”
“This is the sole statement either of us will make,” the pair concluded.
Pvnew exclusively reported that the split had been “a long time coming.”
“It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it,” a Broadway insider told us.
Jackman and Furness met while co-starring in the 1995 Australian mini-series “Correlli.”
The Oscar nominee previously confessed that it was love at first sight and he knew he wanted to marry the “Shame” actress weeks after meeting her.
“I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives,” he said on the “Today” show in 2018.
The pair tied the knot on April 11, 1996 — less than a year after they met.
After suffering multiple miscarriages and an IVF journey, the couple decided to adopt.
In 2000, they adopted their son, Oscar, and five years later they adopted their daughter, Ava.
The Tony winner has often gushed about Furness over the years. Most recently, Jackman penned an emotional message on Instagram celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary.
“love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!!” he captioned a sweet photo with Furness in April 2023.
“I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me.”
The “Logan” actor added that he loves his wife with “all [his] heart.”
Just days before the news of their breakup broke, Furness stepped out without her wedding ring on.
