Ramona Singer thinks Sai De Silva was trying to “be relevant” after the latter claimed the “Real Housewives of New York City” alum was an “a–hole” when they first met.
During Wednesday’s episode of “Turtle Time with Avery and Ramona Singer,” the mother-daughter duo was discussing De Silva’s comment when Avery suggested she called out her mom to “stay semi-relevant.”
“Well it could be what you said, she wants to be relevant in the press and what better way to be relevant?” Ramona, 66, chimed before wondering if De Silva just “wants to be in the press.”
Singer and De Silva’s beef began at a Miami Art basel exhibition in December 2022. However, the reason why their feud began is still unclear.
Singer told her daughter, 28, that De Silva, 42, allegedly introduced herself at a “really crowded” and “overwhelming” event but that she didn’t know who she was.
“I just kinda had the poker face, because I’m very expressive with my face. I admit my face wasn’t embracing because I get bombarded a lot by people, and I wasn’t sure — do I know her? Is she somebody new?” Singer recalled.
Despite that, the two women bonded when Singer allegedly complimented De Silva’s “phenomenal” Instagram page and took a selfie for her own Story.
“Listen, I know she has half a million, I have a million [followers], but I believe women should support women, so I thought by me putting her on my Instagram — her show hadn’t aired yet — it’d gather interest for her because I want the show to be successful,” she pointed out.
(As of Wednesday, Singer has 922,000 Instagram followers and De Silva has 546,000.)
After the selfie, Singer recalled telling De Silva, “Well I just wanna wish you a lot of luck, ’cause you’re gonna need it!”
However, Singer claimed that she “didn’t mean you’re gonna need it in a malicious way,” rather that “no one realizes how difficult it is to be a reality star.”
Singer went on to claim that they also briefly chatted via Instagram messages, during which she gave De Silva her cell phone number and ended the conversation with a heart emoji.
“I’m saying, OK it could be difficult, you need some luck, you’re gonna need it, so reach out to me,” Singer continued, adding, “Then I don’t know, she went nutty on me.”
She further claimed that De Silva “obviously misconstrued” what happened, but she “wish[es] her the best.”
Despite calling De Silva “nutty” and hinting that she was seeking attention, Singer told her daughter that she does not enjoy putting other women down.
“I am a woman who supports women — that is my mantra, and it always will be. So I believe we have to be that way or I believe that’s how I have to be, so that is crazy,” she continued.
However, De Silva recalls their meeting a little differently.
During a July episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” the social media influencer said Singer was a “total bitch.”
“I introduced myself,” she said. “And then after that, I proceeded to say, ‘Oh, I just wanna introduce myself. I’m on the reboot — the new era.'”
She then claimed that Singer flipped her hair and told her, “Honey, good luck. You’re gonna need it.”
She also doubled down on finding the interaction unpleasant during Pvnew’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” live taping at New York City’s Chelsea Table & Stage last week, calling Singer an “a–hole.”
