Craig Conover says viewers will get a better understanding of why Carl Radke called off his engagement to Lindsay Hubbard after watching the upcoming season of “Summer House.”
“I was very surprised,” Conover exclusively tells Pvnew of their split.
“I at least thought they would get married and then whatever happened, happened, but also whenever everyone gets to see the season, it’ll make a lot more sense.”
The “Southern Charm” star — who’s dating Hubbard and Radke’s castmate Paige DeSorbo — explains that he was in the Hamptons with them for most of the summer.
“For two months, we had all dealt with this. You know, it’s not like they had a great summer and all of the sudden this happens,” he teases.
Conover adds that he had some “great conversations” with both Hubbard and Radke in recent months.
“I just think, obviously, the end result without any context at all was going to be tough for people to wrap their heads around,” he explains. “I think it’ll make more sense with more context, that’s all.”
The Sewing Down South founder, 35, also shares how he found out about the former couple’s breakup.
“I was coming back from the US Open, and I got the text message and I was like, ‘Oh my God!'” he recalls.
Pvnew confirmed last month that Radke, 38, and Hubbard, 37, called off their engagement less than three months before they were set to say “I do.”
Two weeks later, People obtained a letter Radke sent to wedding guests claiming his ex-fiancée was “devastated” over the situation.
“Words cannot possibly express how difficult the last two weeks have been for Lindsay and I. We are so incredibly sorry to all of our guests for the confusion and lack of communication,” he wrote.
“We were left trying to figure out how this all exactly happened before we could even have the opportunity to determine the path forward amongst ourselves.”
Radke also addressed the “false narratives and misunderstandings that have made this all the more painful.”
“The fact of the matter is Lindsay is devastated and I’m crushed with how all this transpired,” he continued. “I graciously ask for some patience and grace to heal and recover while we navigate this extremely difficult time.”
He further apologized for the “mess” it has created since they had planned for the wedding to be in Mexico.
“I don’t take [this] lightly. We are super grateful for the love and support you have shown us and will do what I can to help with any costs associated with changing plans,” he added.
Shortly after, a source exclusively told Pvnew that Hubbard was blindsided by the letter.
“Lindsay did not approve of Carl’s letter before it was made public, so there is no ‘we,'” the insider said. “She’s definitely hurt by it, for sure.”
The now-exes met in 2016 before filming Season 1 of “Summer House” and briefly dated in 2019.
Hubbard confirmed to Pvnew in January 2022 that they were dating once again, and Radke proposed less than a year later in front of Bravo cameras.
Hubbard has yet to directly address the split, but she recently removed nearly all of her Instagram posts with Radke.
Season 9 of “Southern Charm” premieres with a supersized episode Thursday, Sept. 14, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
