Exes Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have remained good friends over the years for the sake of their three children.
After 30 years of marriage, the longtime couple announced their split in 2013 — only to get back together less than a year later.
Despite trying to make things work, the pair split for good in 2017; however, they never officially filed for divorce — and never will, according to Perlman.
“Danny and I have always loved each other and we have three amazing children together and we really agree on almost everything important,” the “Cheers” star said of their relationship on “Watch What Happens Live” in 2019.

“Everybody’s got a good relationship with Danny, and with me and with each other,” she continued. “That’s all we care about… we are a family.”
The couple, who started their romance in 1971, welcomed their first child — daughter Lucy — in 1983, one year after tying the knot.
The pair continued to expand their brood into the ’80s, welcoming daughter Gracie in 1985 and son Jake two years later.

Lucy DeVito
DeVito and Perlman became parents in the early ’80s when they welcomed daughter Lucy, who took after her famous parents from a young age.
During an August 2022 interview with Uproxx, the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star revealed that Lucy knew she wanted to be an actress by the time she was in kindergarten.
She went on to get a theatre degree from Brown University before returning to Hollywood, where she landed roles on “Melissa & Joey,” “Deadbeat” and “Little Demon,” an adult horror comedy cartoon.
She also appeared in a few episodes of her dad’s hit sitcom. The father-daughter duo also starred on Broadway together in “I Need That.”
“They’re amazing parents, and they’re in the spotlight of course, and everyone knows who they are, but they’re very down-to-earth people,” she said of her parents on “The Rich Eisen Show” in August 2022.
Danny also had rave reviews for his eldest during an interview on “Today” around the same time, saying he always has “a really fun time” working with his daughter.
“I just adore working with Lucy,” he said. “She loves acting and loves the theater and loves movies — and that’s what I love.”
Lucy revealed in February 2024 that she was expecting her first child with her fiancé. The little one is due sometime in the summer of 2024.
Gracie DeVito
Danny and Perlman welcomed their second child, daughter Gracie, just two weeks after Lucy’s 2nd birthday.
Although Gracie chose to live a life out of the spotlight, she did inherit her parents’ artistic genes.
Gracie, who got her education at Brown and then CalArts, lives in Los Angeles and works as a painter and performance artist.

During a rare interview with Cultured in 2021, Gracie revealed that she felt “no pressure whatsoever” from her parents to follow in their footsteps.
“It was more like they were super excited about whatever we were doing,” she explained.
Gracie married fellow painter Andy Giannakakis in 2019. Although the pair have kept their love life private, Perlman revealed in June 2023 that the pair secretly welcomed a baby girl named Sinclair Lucille DeVito.
“They kept the name DeVito even though she’s married and her husband is not DeVito, but that’s what they chose,” she said on the “Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus” podcast.
“Everybody said it’ll change your life when you have a grandchild, and it does,” she shared.
Although the actress didn’t specify at the time which of her daughters had become a mother, news of Lucy’s pregnancy seemingly confirmed that it was Gracie.
Jacob DeVito
The former couple welcomed their only son Jacob — who goes by Jake — in 1987.
Jake, who Danny once described as a “movie buff,” also pursued a career in the entertainment industry; however, he chose a career behind the camera.
Jake serves as a Co-President of Jersey Films 2nd Avenue and produced Lucy’s show, “Little Demons.” He also worked as an executive producer on “Curmudgeons,” “The Better Angels” and “Fair Chase.”
Like his siblings, Jake has had nothing but great things to say about his parents, telling the Associated Press in March 2022 that he had a “great” childhood.
“Our parents had a lot of amazing, interesting characters around all the time and we were doing a lot of unusual things while growing up and traveling to strange places,” he explained.
“But they were really good about keeping our home really solid and safe,” he added.
Little is known about Jake’s private life as his social media pages are not public.
