Joe Jonas once admitted that his estranged wife Sophie Turner was a “homebody” amid reports that her love of partying was the catalyst for their divorce.
In a resurfaced TikTok Q&A video from 2020, the former pair was asked who “the homebody in the relationship” was, to which Jonas, 34, replied by pointing at Turner.
The “Game of Thrones” star, 27, agreed, smiling as she pointed at herself.
This isn’t the first time Turner has admitted to enjoying her downtime at home. During the pandemic, the actress shared in an interview with Conan O’Brien that she was enjoying quarantine.
“I’m loving it. I’m an introvert, I’m a homebody,” she told the talk show host at the time. “If I could stay at home all day, I would, so this is great for me.”
She shared that she would leave the house once a day to walk her dogs but “that’s it.”
Turner also joked that in order to practice social distance, “all you have to do is stay at home and get drunk.”
What you need to know about Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's split
Joe Jonas filed for divorce from wife Sophie Turner on Sept. 5, 2023, after four years of marriage.
The couple have two children together.
A source claims the pair had “many disagreements,” and the divorce was a “last resort” for Jonas.
Jonas is seeking “shared parental responsibility” with his estranged wife.
The children are said to live primarily with Jonas, and the singer is said to be caring for them “pretty much all the time.”
Turner’s penchant for partying is believed to have factored into the split, and a source said the pair have “very different lifestyles.”
Turner is suing Jonas to return their two daughters to England.
The actress claims she found out her estranged husband filed for divorce “through the media.“
Jonas blasted the lawsuit, saying it goes against an “amicable co-parenting setup.”
However, Turner admitted that quarantine was working out in her favor because Jonas is “a real social butterfly.”
“I struggle to kind of, lock him down and have him just spend time with me,” she said. “It’s like prison for him but it’s great for me.”
And when the musician was doing Instagram Live DJ sets for fans during the pandemic, Turner said it was Jonas who would ask for shots of tequila.
Jonas’ admission of the “Do Revenge” star’s homebody tendencies strangely contrasts the rumors that Turner’s partying ways caused problems in their marriage.
“She likes to party; he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles,” a source told TMZ Tuesday, shortly after he officially filed to end their four-year marriage.
Several fans have taken to the internet to accuse Jonas’ team of creating a “smear campaign” against Turner, claiming that it is clearly Jonas who likes to party and not the other way around.
“This smear campaign against her is so sad and insidious! love to sophie right now,” one fan wrote in a Reddit thread surrounding the breakup.
“Sophie is beloved and adored by all of her fans, celebrity friends and colleagues. She has always come off so sweet and genuine in all of her interviews,” a second person commented, adding, “You know what’s not a good look? A man talking crap about the young mother of his young children.”
“Smearing the mother of your children is NEVER a good look, but ESPECIALLY one as generally liked as Sophie,” another agreed.
“She is Sansa Stark,” one more said, referring to her character in “GoT.” “He and his team should tread lightly before the smear campaign has the opposite effect he is looking for lol.”
Despite being a homebody, Pvnew reported on Wednesday that Turner was spotted partying and ripping shots at a bar in England just days before Jonas filed for divorce. She was seemingly celebrating the wrap of her upcoming ITV show, “Joan.”
Jonas and Turner, who share 3-year-old Willa and a 1-year-old whose first initial is D, shared a joint statement confirming their divorce on Wednesday.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” their statement read.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
In the divorce filing obtained by Pvnew, the “Cake by the Ocean” crooner claimed that their union was “irretrievably broken.”
Jonas, who has tapped celebrity attorney Tom Sasser, also claimed that their children have primarily been living with him, but also requested “shared parental responsibility.”
The exes reportedly have a prenuptial agreement in place that would protect their individual assets.
Pvnew confirmed on Sunday that divorce was in the duo’s near future after Jonas was spotted without his wedding ring on countless occasions while on tour.
However, he strangely put his ring back on as split rumors made headlines.
Meanwhile, a source claimed to the Daily Mail that the English actress has been homesick and wants to move across the pond to be closer to her family.
“Joe would like another kid; he’s a real family man. But while Sophie’s been in the UK, she’s also realized just how much she misses this country,” the source said, adding, “It’s the final nail in the coffin for them.”
Meanwhile, another source claimed to TMZ on Wednesday that Turner’s compromising behavior caught on a ring camera led to Jonas’ decision to call it quits on their marriage.
