It’s officially Joe-ver.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner released a joint statement Wednesday to publicly address their divorce for the first time.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the estranged couple wrote in a post to Instagram.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
The statement came one day after Jonas, 34, filed for divorce from Turner, 27, in Miami, stating in court documents obtained by Pvnew that their union was “irretrievably broken.”
The Jonas Brothers member also claimed in the filing that his and the “Game of Thrones” star’s two daughters have been living primarily with him, but he is seeking “shared parental responsibility” after their split.
A source close to the Jonas family told Pvnew exclusively Tuesday that “divorce was a last resort for Joe,” who “never wanted to break up his family, but … had to take what he felt was the best course of action for his girls.”
What you need to know about Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's split
Joe Jonas filed for divorce from wife Sophie Turner on Sept. 5, 2023, after four years of marriage.
The couple have two children together.
A source claims the pair had “many disagreements,” and the divorce was a “last resort” for Jonas.
Jonas is seeking “shared parental responsibility” with his estranged wife.
The children are said to live primarily with Jonas, and the singer is said to be caring for them “pretty much all the time.”
Turner’s penchant for partying is believed to have factored into the split, and a source said the pair have “very different lifestyles.”
Turner is suing Jonas to return their two daughters to England.
The actress claims she found out her estranged husband filed for divorce “through the media.“
Jonas blasted the lawsuit, saying it goes against an “amicable co-parenting setup.”
“Joe finally reached a point where he felt that he had exhausted all options to salvage the marriage,” the insider added.
The pair’s trouble in paradise first made headlines Sunday when Pvnew confirmed they were heading for divorce.
“Joe is exploring the best options for his future,” a source told us at the time.
Despite their separation, the “Burnin’ Up” singer sang a love song for his estranged wife, “Hesitate,” at the JoBros’ concert Sunday night.
The 2019 track was notably inspired by their romance, which began in 2016.
“It’s like my vows before I wrote my vows. It’s my promise to Sophie,” Jonas said of the tune in his family band’s 2020 “Happiness Continues” concert film.
Fans also noticed that the DNCE frontman slipped his wedding ring back on for the show — after not wearing it on previous dates of his Five Albums, One Night tour with siblings Kevin Jonas and Nick Jonas.
Joe and Turner — who signed a prenuptial agreement — eloped in Las Vegas in May 2019, nearly two years after announcing their engagement.
Their firstborn daughter, Willa, arrived in July 2020, and a second baby girl, whose first initial is D, was born in July 2022.
