Bob Barker’s death was a result of his battle with Alzheimer’s disease, according to TMZ.
The iconic “Price Is Right” host, who died last month, had never publicly addressed his battle with the disease.
While it’s unclear when Barker was first diagnosed, his death certificate indicates that his passing came “years” after his Alzheimer’s began, according to the outlet.
However, the legendary game show host notably teamed up with PETA in 2013 for a campaign which highlighted how a vegetarian diet could help prevent the brain disorder.
The update comes just over a week after Pvnew confirmed that Barker had died at the age of 99.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker has left us,” his rep told us.
A spokesperson for CBS added that, in addition to his successful decades-long career, Barker will be remembered as “a dedicated” animal rights activist.
“Daytime television has lost one of its most iconic stars,” a statement from the company read. “During his 35 years as host of ‘The Price Is Right’ Bob made countless people’s dreams come true and everyone feel like a winner when they were called to ‘come on down.’”
According to TMZ, which was first to report the news, Barker died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles.
Prior to his passing, Barker suffered a series of falls and hospitalizations over the years.
In 2017, Barker was rushed to the hospital after hitting his head during a fall.
He was hospitalized twice in 2018 due to severe back pain, and had to be treated by paramedics again in January 2019 after taking a spill in his Hollywood Hills home.
Barker was married to his high school sweetheart Dorothy Jo Gideon from 1945 until 1981, when she died from lung cancer. The pair never had children during their 36-year marriage.
