Miley Cyrus says fans should’ve known she was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community after seeing a photo of her next to other starlets in 2009.
In a video posted to TikTok Thursday, the “Wrecking Ball” singer addressed a now-viral meme of her hitting the town with Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and “Hannah Montana” co-star Emily Osment.
During the outing, Cyrus kept things casual in sweatpants, peace-sign fuzzy boots and a gray cardigan, while the other three looked red carpet ready.
“If you guys didn’t know I was bisexual from this damn picture, I don’t know what’s wrong with you,” the now 30-year-old joked.
“I mean hello!” she added. “Look at ‘em!”
The songstress admitted that the girl gang was actually headed to the Cheesecake Factory after attending the red-carpet premiere of “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
“Me and Emily and Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato are going to The Cheesecake Factory,” she shared. “These are some classy ladies.”
While Cyrus — who has been dating Maxx Morando for two years — thinks her sexuality was obvious at the time, the former child star waited until 2016 to come out as pansexual.
“My whole life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality. I always hated the word “bisexual,” because that’s even putting me in a box,” she explained during an interview with PvNew.
“I don’t ever think about someone being a boy or someone being a girl,” she continued, noting that her
“eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade.”
The singer realized that she was pansexual after meeting someone “who didn’t identify as male or female” at an LGBTQIA+ center in Los Angeles.
“I related to that person more than I related to anyone in my life,” Cyrus explained. “I understood my sexuality more. I was like, ‘Oh — that’s why I don’t feel straight and I don’t feel gay. It’s because I’m not.'”
The “Flowers” singer has been taking a walk down memory lane in recent weeks for her “Used to Be Young” TikTok series, named after her new hit single.
On Friday, Cyrus addressed another headline-making moment from 2009 when she danced with what appeared to be a stripper pole at the Teen Choice Awards.
However, the Nashville native claimed “it wasn’t a stripper pole” and that the metal rod was actually there to help her keep steady.
“It was actually just for stability! I had a heel on, guys! What do you want from me?” the singer said in the TikTok clip.
Cyrus famously performed her hit song “Party in the U.S.A.” for the first time at the awards show but was met with backlash for holding onto the pole while dancing on an ice cream cart.
“Was I really gonna do my performance without dancing on top of an ice cream cart?” Cyrus asked rhetorically.
Despite the controversy, the songstress thinks the performance was “amazing” — even if her pitch was “a little off.”
