Paris Jackson had a message for trolls on social media Wednesday after the sweet tribute she posted for her late dad Michael Jackson’s 65th birthday attracted comments about her unshaved armpits.
In the clip she shared on Instagram Tuesday, the 25-year-old singer shares some memories of her father as she wears a loose sleeveless dress and pulls her hair up in a high topknot while revealing her underarm hair in the process.
After commenters wrote everything from “Shaving armpits is a kinda cleanliness” to “You made this whole video just to show you don’t shave your armpits,” the 25-year-old star set the record straight.
“i wasn’t tying my hair up to show off my armpit hair,” Paris posted on Twitter, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “i’ve not shaved it for years and forget it’s there all the time. get over yourselves.”
The King of Pop’s only daughter ended her post, joking, “i was pulling my hair up to show my glass cutting jawline.”
She received plenty of support on the post, with one fan writing, “You’re fine just the way you are! Keep doing you! Dad will be proud.”
“love you paris, armpit hair and jawline included lmao” another added.
In her video, Paris talked about her famous father and how, “back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it.”
She revealed that her dad even went as far as not wanting his kids “to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party.”
However, the model — who flashed her nipple piercing at Paris Fashion Week last fall — shared that she was tired of social media users judging her about how she chooses to honor her dad’s birthday.
“If you don’t wish someone a happy birthday via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, you don’t care about them,” she said, adding that when she doesn’t post about her dad’s birthday, “people lose their f—king minds.”
“They tell me to kill myself,” she said.
Paris’ post comes after her brothers Prince, 26, and Blanket “Bigi”, 21, made a rare public appearance in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The duo greeted fans outside a Michael Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil performance to honor their dad’s birthday, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.
As for Paris, she performed on stage Tuesday, telling the audience that her father “put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here onstage in front of you and scream into a microphone.”
“I owe everything to him,” she concluded.
