Bob Barker’s girlfriend of four decades, Nancy Burnet, said the “Price Is Right” host will be “missed” after his death at the age of 99 last week.
“I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally,” Burnet, who founded United Activists for Animal Rights in 1987, said in a statement to Pvnew.
“We were great friends over these 40 years,” she added of the TV legend. “He will be missed.”
As previously reported, a spokesperson for Barker confirmed the sad news of the game show host’s passing on Saturday.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker has left us,” his rep told us.
A spokesperson for CBS, the network behind “Price Is Right,” also told Pvnew, “We lost a beloved member of the CBS family today with the passing of Bob Barker.
“During his 35 years as host of ‘The Price Is Right’ Bob made countless people’s dreams come true and everyone feel like a winner when they were called to ‘come on down.’”
Barker and the animal rights activist were first romantically linked in 1983 and were together up until Barker’s tragic passing on Saturday.
The couple worked together on various projects to aid in animal rights.
In 2018, Barker donated over 400 acres in Moreno Valley, Calif., to the nonprofit Donkeyland, which works with injured and sick wild donkeys and burros.
While the two remained relatively out of the spotlight following Barker’s exit from the CBS gameshow, Burnet gave a hopeful health update regarding her boyfriend in December 2022.
“He’s in very good health for his age and his humor is still in good shape. He’s had a very charmed life,” she said to Fox News at the time.
Prior to his relationship with Burnet, Barker was married to Dorothy Gideon for 35 years. Gideon died following a battle with lung cancer in 1981.
Barker and Gideon did not have children, and the emcee never remarried.
