Emma Slater is freezing her eggs amid her “difficult” divorce from Sasha Farber.
“For me, it’s about taking control of my future and preserving my options,” the “Dancing With the Stars” pro, 34, explained to fans in an Instagram post Saturday.
“I’m very grateful that this process is available for people, whatever the individual reason may be.”
Slater added that she wanted to share her journey in order to “support women” who may be in a similar position.
“Whatever your reasoning and choices are for freezing your eggs, I respect them,” she explained.
“I’m grateful to those who respect mine too. It does take a lot of thought, courage and consideration but ultimately this is giving me peace of mind.”
In a follow-up post, the newly-single choreographer gave a shout-out to the medical professionals at OVA Health in Chicago where she has been undergoing treatment.
“I believe many who are wondering about this process may not know where to start and may have some questions,” she shared, noting she would be documenting her process moving forward.
The revelation comes just one week after Slater revealed that having kids was the reason behind her and Farber’s decision to split after four years of marriage.
“We’re just at potentially two different places. But the hard part was that the love actually didn’t go [away],” Slater said during an appearance on “DWTS” alum Nick Viall’s “Viall Files” podcast.
“It’s really the kid thing. It’s interesting because I do want to have kids,” she went on. “I just don’t want to delay Sasha’s path in having kids because I know that he is ready for that.”
Her ex, who is also a “DWTS” pro, officially filed for divorce in February 2023, nearly one year after their breakup.
“I do want kids. I don’t know what it is, I’m just figuring that out for myself. It’s not something I take lightly and I don’t want to enter into something that I’m not sure about because I would never do that,” Slater further explained.
“So, that’s been the real friction and the real hard part [of our split]. It had nothing to do with him. He’s always been very much himself. It’s me that’s found it difficult to understand why I’m feeling different.”
As previously reported, Farber proposed to Slater during a live taping of “DWTS” in October 2016 after they dated on-and-off for about five years. They said “I do” in Los Angeles in March 2018.
In more “DWTS” news, judge Derek Hough tied the knot to Hayley Erbert in a redwood forest in Monterey County, Calif., over the weekend.
Their nuptials took place just ahead of the Season 32 premiere of the dance competition series, which will feature “Bachelorette” star Charity Lawson and “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix vying for the coveted mirrorball trophy. The full cast will be announced Sept. 13 on “Good Morning America.”
