Kelly Clarkson is embracing the single life following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
The “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer revealed that she does not currently have a boyfriend — and most likely won’t for a while — during an Instagram Live Friday.
“Do I have a boyfriend? No! And not looking. You know why? I love being single,” the 41-year-old told her followers.
“I have two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a hamster, multiple jobs — there’s a lot going on,” she explained. “And, you know, you think you’re going to spend the rest of your life with somebody, and you don’t. That’s hard to start over.”
While it’s unclear when — or if — Clarkson will be ready to put herself back out there, the singer joked in December 2021 that she would be “single forever” after going through such a tumultuous divorce.
During an episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the songstress admitted that she struggles to see the “red flags” in her partners, which is why she needed to take a break from the dating game.
“I’m always that person that’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t know. Maybe they were having an off day,’” she joked.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, 46, in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage.
Following a back-and-forth battle over child custody and their shared Montana ranch, the exes finally settled their divorce in March 2022.
Shortly after the pair parted ways, Clarkson moved to New York City with daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7, to host her eponymous talk show.
It turns out that a change of scenery proved to be the best thing for Clarkson, who admitted that the move “helped” her get back on her feet.
“I love living here, and I’m a Texas girl, so I did not think I was gonna love it so much. But you will see this face all the time at the park. I love walking around,” she said on another Instagram Live, noting that her kids also “love it so much.”
“They love getting on the subway. My son doesn’t allow us to stand near him, so he looks like he’s by himself. He’s 7! I was like, ‘OK’ and he’s like, ‘No, I’m alone,’” the “Breakaway” singer joked. “But I love it here. I think it’s what you surround yourself with.”
While appearing on the “Today” show in June, Clarkson shared a similar sentiment, admitting that she “never really liked living in LA.”
“I think COVID pointed out a lot of things. A lot of us didn’t make it relationship-wise,” she said, referencing her bitter divorce.
In fact, the Grammy winner said she “never wanted to live there in the first place” but did so for the sake of work and her marriage.
However, once she and Blackwood went their separate ways, she was left feeling like she had no one to turn to.
“I’m lonely there. Not as in, like, ‘I need a boyfriend’ kind of thing. Lonely as in, like, you miss your family, you miss just having any family, or that kind of relationship,” she explained, noting that most of her family lives on the East Coast.
Earlier this year, Clarkson released a biting divorce album, called “Chemistry,” detailing all of “the good, the bad and the ugly” from their relationship — but mostly the latter.
She then released an extended version of the record — which contained five new tracks — on Thursday.
