Grimes hopes her earthly life comes to an early end.
The “Genesis” singer revealed in a recent interview with Wired that she wants to die on Mars once she reaches her mid-60s.
When asked if she has any plans to travel outside Earth, the Canadian musician simply replied, “Definitely. I hope to die in space.”
“I would like to go far enough out there to where my body could not handle coming back,” she added. “So it would be closer to the end of my life. Maybe 65.”
In fact, she thinks Mars, specifically, would be a “great” place to finish out her life — as long as “there’s a megastructure by then.”
“I’d go out there and live as long as I can until I die,” the 35-year-old said.
However, Grimes — who shares 1-year-old daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, who goes by Y, and 3-year-old son X Æ A-12 with Elon Musk — noted that there is one thing that could change her plans.
“If there’s a real responsibility, like, if my kids are having grandkids and really need me, I might change my mind,” she told the outlet. “But the preferred thing would be seeing some new worlds.”
She continued, “I would like to move to Mars. But I have to wait till my kids are good. Like 25. I think if I died on Earth, in my last moments, I would regret it. If I died in space, I would be like, ‘You’ve lived a great life, you did all the things you wanted to do.'”
It may even be easy for Grimes to get to space given the fact that her on-and-off again boyfriend’s company, SpaceX, is currently working on a $3 billion reusable heavy-lift launch rocket to transport humans and cargo to the moon and Mars.
Plus, the singer has already been getting ready for her otherworldly life by going through a full “alien” transformation.
Last year, the mother of two shared that she was undergoing a “long slow effort to have a full alien body” that’s “totally covered in white ink” — which is supposed to look like “beautiful alien scars.”
Since starting the process, Grimes has debuted a huge red leg design, a chest tattoo featuring futuristic letters and a massive back tat of tangled white lines.
Now that her body is nearly fully covered, the singer has also debated getting white ink on her face — as well as “elf ear” surgery.
In September 2022, the sci-fi lover revealed that she wanted to get the procedure to permanently make the tops of her ears pointy.
“Has anyone done elf ear mods with a good outcome?” she asked on Twitter. “Im scared about ear cartilage having a hard time healing. Especially as a musician this surgery seems risky but I’ve wanted it my whole life.”
While it’s unclear if — or when — Grimes will pull the trigger, it looks like she’s got about 30 years left on Earth to make the decision.
