Kim Kardashian is showing fans the reality of a psoriasis flareup.
The “Kardashians” star revealed to her 364 million Instagram followers on Tuesday that she is currently dealing with a really “painful” bout of the skin disease, which causes a rash with itchy, scaly patches according to the Mayo Clinic.
“How crazy is my psoriasis right now guys,” she said while zooming in on a large red patch on her calf. “It’s like all up my leg and I don’t know what’s happening but I got to figure this out… this is crazy.”
Kardashian, 43, noted that she is “not sure” what triggered the flareup as she hasn’t changed her diet recently — which was the cause of another one of her major breakouts in 2022.
“I’ve tried everything,” she wrote. “Psoriasis sucks.”
In a separate video posted to her Instagram Story, Kardashian explained that while she usually has a small spot on her leg, she can tell the rash is growing.
“But now I can tell it’s going down my leg and up my leg and all up my thigh,” she said. “I just know it’s time to figure this out.”
Despite her frustration, the Skkn founder tried to look at the bright side of things, pointing out that the large red patch resembles a heart.
“Wait am I tripping or is my psoriasis in the shape of a heart for Valentine’s Day,” she said, while zooming into the marking.
“Lucky me, I have a heart-shaped psoriasis,” she sarcastically added.
Kardashian has been open about her psoriasis for years, often documenting her flareups on social media.
In fact, in 2019 the media mogul penned an essay about the autoimmune disease for sister Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh site, explaining that she first started showing symptoms such as arthritis in the mid 2000s.
“If you have psoriasis, you can’t let it ruin your life or get the best of you,” she wrote at the time. “You have to do what you can to make sure you are comfortable but not let it take over … I hope my story can help anyone else with an autoimmune disease feel confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
While the reality TV star has tried to help her symptoms using homeopathic remedies and occasional cortisone shots, she recently revealed another method that has been helping to tame her flareups.
After facing backlash for having a tanning bed in her office earlier this month, the Skims CEO took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain that the device “really helps” with her autoimmune disease.
“I have psoriasis and it really helps when it’s bad. But I don’t use it too often,” she wrote in response to Allure’s piece titled, “Please, Kim Kardashian, Don’t Try to Normalize Tanning Beds.”
Along with her tanning bed, Kardashian also has a red-light bed to treat her skin.
