Something in the milk ain’t clean.
Scooter Braun’s main clients are reportedly dropping him like a hot potato, but a source close to the famed music manager insists that stars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande are “under contract” — and that Braun is just moving into a new role.
“All of Scooter Braun’s clients are under contract, and negotiations have been going on for several months as Scooter steps into his larger role as Hybe America CEO,” a source familiar with the situation told Pvnew on Tuesday.
Music trade Billboard reported Monday that Grande dropped Braun as her manager shortly after Puck News published a story of an alleged rift between Braun and Bieber.
While reps for Braun and Bieber denied those claims, other sources told us that “where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
Grande’s team, on the other hand, has yet to comment on Braun’s alleged firing. A source close to Braun dismissed the various reports, telling us, “People are spreading rumors based on what they know, but they are off.”
According to our insider, “SB Projects are still handling both Justin and Ariana as they work through what this new structure looks like.”
If true, this wouldn’t be the first time Grande gave Braun the boot. In 2018, the manager opened up to PvNew about the time she fired him.
“I could have said a lot of stuff, and in fact my team wanted me to, because they were pissed. But I said, ‘We’re not gonna say a word, and this is gonna come back around,’” Braun said at the time.
“They were like, ’Never take her back!,’ but I just said, ‘Let’s stay quiet and let our truth be our actions.’”
Meanwhile, we hear Bieber is starting to “ask more questions” — despite his rep confirming that he’s still signed with Braun. We’re told his wife, Hailey Bieber, has taken a more active role in his business affairs.
“She’s a part of the meetings, and is talking a lot for him,” a source familiar with the situation previously told Pvnew.
Insiders have also confirmed that Idina Menzel parted ways with Braun earlier this year. Additionally, Pvnew reported Monday that Demi Lovato split from him last month.
We’re told the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer’s exit came well before the report claiming Justin was also leaving SB Projects surfaced earlier this week. The source added that Lovato has yet to find new management.
While some sources are claiming Braun is taking a step back from his day-to-day duties, one insider alleged to PvNew Tuesday that he is “getting out of management” altogether.
“He has been for years,” they told the outlet. “That’s the real story.”
A rep for Braun did not get back to us by deadline. However, Braun seems to be unbothered by all the headlines, tweeting Tuesday, “Breaking news … I’m no longer managing myself.”
