Rumer Willis admitted that she and her boyfriend, Derek Richard Thomas, got the inspiration for their daughter’s moniker when they mistyped the name Loretta.
“We were thinking about the name Loretta, and it was a typo,” she told People Tuesday. “Her dad and I were texting, and he left the ‘R’ out of Loretta, and it was just Louetta.”
However, the mistake turned out to be a good one, as Willis, 35, said she actually “loved” the name.
“I was like, ‘Oh, I love that!'” she added. “I feel like it was one of those kind of divine intervention universe moments, and we figured it out actually quite early in my pregnancy.”
The new mom confessed that she did have doubts about whether the name Louetta would be a good fit for her baby girl.
“What was scary was, I love this name, but oh man, is it going to be her name?” she recalled to the magazine. “Is it the right name? What if she comes out and doesn’t look like this?

The oldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore said she and Thomas, 29, also like how versatile their daughter’s name is.
“I wanted to find something that had a lot of versatility,” Rumer explained. “If she doesn’t feel like a Louetta, she can go by Lou, she can go by Etta. She can go change it up throughout her life. Whatever she wants.”
The “Dancing With the Stars” alum gave birth to her daughter in April.
Since welcoming her baby girl, Rumer has been open about embracing motherhood and her postpartum body.
In June, she shared via Instagram Story a snap of her “mom bod” before telling fans that she was entering her “Hot
