Gisele Bündchen is mourning the death of her beloved mother, Vania Nonnenmacher.
“Beloved mom, It hurts to know that I won’t be able to hug you anymore, but I know that you will always be watching over us,” the supermodel began her emotional Instagram tribute on Tuesday.
“You were an angel on earth, always helping everyone around you. I am so grateful to be your daughter and to have learned from you.”
Bündchen honored her mom for being “the best role model of love, strength, compassion, courage, and grace” and said she would “forever cherish the beautiful memories” they shared.
“You will live forever through the many lives that you touched. Thank you for giving me five best friends for life,” she continued, referring to her siblings.
“Your love will always guide us. I will see you in my dreams. Love you ❤️.”
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel, 43, wrote the message alongside a carousel of photos showing Nonnenmacher spending time with her husband, her children and her grandchildren.
Nonnenmacher died Sunday after a battle with cancer. She was 75.
Brazilian outlet GZH reported she had been admitted to Hospital Moinhos de Vento in Porto Alegre, Brazil, for treatment.
Nonnenmacher was a mother to six daughters: Rafaela, Graziela, Gabriela, Raquel, Gisele and her twin sister, Patricia.
Bündchen opened up about having the “best childhood in the world” in her 2018 memoir, “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.”
“When I was growing up in Horizontina, [Brazil], there were six of us girls at the dinner table, six voices rising up to talk or laugh or disagree at once,” she wrote.
“One day, my dad made a rule: if one of us had something to say, we needed to raise our hand.”
