Jennifer Aniston has room to grow in her relationships.
While she is “really good at every other job,” the “Morning Show” star admitted to WSJ. Magazine in an interview published Tuesday that her love life is “sort of the one area that’s a little [lacking].”
Aniston credited this “challenge” to her parents’ dynamic.
“Watching my family’s relationship didn’t make me kind of go, ‘Oh, I can’t wait to do that,'” the “Friends” star, 54, said of mom Nancy Dow and dad John Aniston, who divorced during her childhood.
“It was always a little bit difficult for me in relationships, I think, because I really was kind of alone,” she recalled. “I didn’t like the idea of sacrificing who you were or what you needed, so I didn’t really know how to do that.”
Jennifer continued, “It was almost easier to just be kind of solo. So I didn’t have any real training in that give-and-take.”
The actress, who is working on “not being afraid to say what you need and what you want,” added, “It’s still a challenge for me in a relationship.”
Jennifer has been married two times, first to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005.
In 2015, she wed Justin Theroux — and the former couple have remained amicable since their 2018 split.
While the duo don’t “talk every day” anymore, the “Leftovers” alum told Esquire in April 2021 that they do “call each other,” FaceTime and text.
Jennifer clarified in a December 2018 interview with Elle that she personally views her marriages to Pitt, 59, and Theroux, 52, as “very successful” ones.
“When they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness doesn’t exist within that arrangement anymore,” the Emmy winner explained.
Jennifer added that she “would not stay in a situation out of fear” as that would lead her to a “life of disservice.”
The Golden Globe winner joked in her new WSJ. Magazine interview that she is only “sleeping with” her dog these days.
